Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.
He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.
Ruben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football. Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to take charge of the team until Ruben joins.

Almorim and Sporting were in disagreement over the timing of his departure. Almorim preferred to leave at the end of the season, while Sporting, in urgent need of funds, insisted he move immediately or not at all. Forced out?

It was United that said now or never. Amorim also said he won’t be going for any Sporting players in January.

I filtered old Sherminator (and VC) as all they do is come onto articles and just insult for no reason whatsoever. By all means be robust in your argument and defend it but in what sane world should we put up with angry weirdos like them using this site to vent their real world frustrations on people on here who just wanna have a laugh and can’t see the thinly veiled irony in these type of articles?
My experience on here will be so much better filtering the ones who seek to destroy rather than create.

Hilarious that you call anyone weird, considering you spend your life thinking you’re an online celebrity on an anonymous forum.

The BBC has released an interesting piece on Amorim, delving into his persona, tactics and what he may do at Utd. Sporting Lisbon fans and Portuguese journalists regard him as a generational managerial talent, which is high praise indeed.

I seem to remember Sky doing a piece on Ole when he took the United job, went to Norway interviewing all the journos and experts over there, all said he was destined to be a world class coach etc etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They often tend to go overboard, unfortunately, but this watch is quite decent from the BBC.

Let's not put the 'GM' curse on him
For me, he just feels like the right guy, and I haven't really felt that with previous managers - it felt more hope than expectation. Of course could be wrong, and he will be given time, but sometimes you can tell early on when he gets here if he is the right fit or not

What did you do to upset him, Termy.
All I did was ask if this was his next crusade and that he was like a JA 606 version of Lisa Simpson.
Nothing abusive at all. Just a bit of fun.

I hope the GM comparison is just hype but it's understandable why Sporting fans hold Amorim in such high esteem. His transformative impact on a sleeping giant was truly amazing in a short space of time. Breaking up the league's duopoly of Porto and Benfica felt like the stuff of dreams for Sporting fans, yet he achieved it with style. He has a likable demeanor, both on and off the pitch, and his team's playing style has attracted plaudits from all quarters. What can go wrong ? 🤣
However, we must be realistic, he has yet to encounter a challenge the size and complexity of Utd. He is relatively young and inexperienced as a coach so that in itself present huge risks. I hope he approaches this chance head on and is not distracted by the constant spotlight and noise. I for one remain cautiously optimistic about our future! 😊

Just said he was like a lovestruck teenager with regards to Gyokeres. Pretty harmless.
If he gets upset so easily, maybe he should give up this anonymous Internet celebrity stuff….
