Addendum. Dems did well in the midterms and so were still doing well and well supported in 2022. So what happened since?
IMO, information about the border came out and blew up in the media. Very isolated instances where people were sent from jails and mental institutions went super duper viral. Apparently the Dems have let in like 20m people in the last 4 years. I'm pro-migration, but politically there's no way you don't get a backlash for that. Not just because of the numbers, but also because of how incompetent you must be for that to happen. Even without the border bill, the numbers are still to high.
Also, nobody thought in 2022 that a genocide would happen in Gaza and the Dems would fund and enable it, not just for two or three days, but month after month. Then nearer the Election they started jumping around shouting"ceasefire" all over the place. F off Joe Biden, who do you think you're kidding?
Seems to me that Trump also haemorrhaged some support too, which brings in the element of voter disillusion, disenfranchisement and apathy. However, Trump supporters are harder to sway and are the type that will justify anything, whereas Dem supporters will be disenfranchised with the party. They literally helped to carry out a genocide you know. Completely abandoning the core beliefs and ideals of their supporters.
It's a good thing that the Dems get to pay for this. The only downside, and it's a massive one, is that Trump was the one waiting to benefit from that. Catch 22, but I'd still have rather kept the Dems than see what Trump does with these situations.
Nevertheless, he is now the boss and he actually does have a chance to do good things. He's been talking a lot about a world of peace and prosperity so here's the open goal Donald. All you have to do is tap it in. Politically, he should be judged by his actions going forward and I sincerely hope he can accomplish these pledges to bring peace and economic stability in the world, bring the cost of fuel and food down across the world. Let's be honest, that would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of many.
However, if it's short term peace in exchange for losing an arm and a leg (Ukraine and Palestine) then that won't go down well. It also has to be long lasting and not just applying a band aid or kicking the can down the road. Other would be invaders and occupiers must be discouraged from thinking they can reclaim lost "sovereign" lands.
US Election Epilogue Postscript and

When Biden got in, the American working class was living paycheck to paycheck, using quick credit to pay the bills.
Four years later and the American working class is living paycheck to paycheck, using quick credit to pay the bills.
Meanwhile, the top 0.1% of Americans control almost the same amount of wealth as the bottom 90%. And that share of the wealth in the hands of the few is increasing.
The Democrats have betrayed the working class, done little for the middle class, and here we are.

For me, most of the facts - not all of them, but most of them - favour the dems. The difference is that the dems screwed up royally in delivering that message to the majority of America by comparison to Trump and Vance's lies.

Economies in every country across the world have struggled in the post-Covid years.
Causing untold misery and anger among their populations.
The past 2 years have seen pretty much every low-to-middle income country, from Argentina to Ethiopia, crawl back to the IMF for one of their brutal "Structural Adjustment Programmes."
The OECD economies haven't done particularly well either.
Resulting in unprecedented political upheavals over the past couple of years in countries that hold elections. And violent uprisings in less democratic states.
Long standing governing parties in places like Botswana and Britain have been kicked out. De facto one-party states like South Africa and India have seen their ruling majorities narrowed.
Right-leaning countries have shifted left. Left-leaning countries have shifted right.
There's been at least 7 military coups across Africa in less than 24 months.
Even the usually pliant Chinese public have forced their government into unprecedented cash stimuli to bring the noise down.
I work at my company's Africa office. The new government that rode a wave of support only a couple of years ago is already on borrowed time. With violent street protests almost grinding the economy to a halt between April and June.
Nothing about the US election is particularly unique. The whole planet is angry with their own leaders.

“ Nothing about the US election is particularly unique. The whole planet is angry with their own leaders.”
All being done by design, it’s not a coincidence it’s happening in many countries around the world as you’ve said. People need to see it and change it. Why are most just sitting back and putting up with whatever substandard leadership or election candidates that have clearly shown they do not have the people’s interest in mind? The world’s in a mess, nothing new there but these leaders are more corrupt and hell bent on destroying people’s lives than we’ve ever seen.
