I was at WHL yesterday, and frankly

it was an abysmal showing. No urgency, fight or fluency. I said a while back that the Prem this season was very sub standard, but the one thing players need to do is run about and try to at least compete. Most of the supposed smaller clubs do that in abundance, so it is easy to see why after 11 matches, only four points separate 3rd from 13th. No teams, other than Liverpool are showing any kind of consistency.

Spurs did just about the most Spursy thing ever yesterday, only had to beat a team at home, that had not won all season, and not been in the top division for 20 years, hope that the other results went for them. Chelsea and Arsenal drew, Forest lost, so all the results fell perfect. Spurs should have been 3rd, instead they ended up 10th. Could only happen to Spurs.

It`s not going to get any better for Spurs. The fixture list this side of Xmas is horrendous, so no way can I see the manager surviving. I have giving him my backing since the Coventry match, but I suspect a change will be on the horizon, if not before Xmas, shortly afterwards.

Prem matches to play Nov/Dec
Man City (a)
Fulham (h)
Bournemouth (a)
Chelsea (h)
Southampton (a)
Liverpool (h)

Cup matches
Roma (h)
Rangers (a)
Man United (h)

Frankly the only game they may get a point is Southampton away, although they will will probably give Southampton their first win of the season more likely. With the alarming dip in form I can see nailed on home defeats to Chelsea, Liverpool, Roma and Man United, away defeats to City, Rangers, Bournemouth. So there is absolutely no way Ange will survive if that happens. Changing the manager will not solve a lot, but it is a results game, and if a manager doesn`t get results, he won`t last.

I was a bit optimistic a few games back, but a week is a long time in football as they say. But as usual the players just revert to kind, and you never quite know what you are going to get. The one thing is certain though lots of the players are just not good enough.

Vicario clearly started well at Spurs, but he causes lots of problems at the back with his constant flapping and poor distribution. Porro`s form has fallen off a cliff. Draguson probably not quite good enough, and Romero may have been part of a world cup winning team, but he is slower than a snail, and surely if a bid comes in during the summer, he has to be sold. The midfield as well, I thought was sorted, but I think both Bentancur and Maddison are luxury players, need more steel in there, someone to win the 50/50s and drive the team forward. Solanke will score plenty if given the service, at the moment he gets pretty well zero. The wide players also are just not delivering, Johnson seems to have dropped back to his pre scoring form, contributes very little. Son is clearly past his best, and also contributes next to nothing. Werner has pace to burn, but delivers very little, and his finishing is woeful.

Then we have the continually sicknotes like Richarlison, even Odebert looks liked he may be joining the list. Waste of time keeping them at the club, if they are never available.

Although Spurs have spent really big last couple of windows, looks like another big rebuild is needed next couple of windows. Not sure Levy will be willing to fund any more to Ange. So I suspect a new manager will be sorting it out come the new year.

Nothing is ever plain sailing with Spurs.

Trouble is… we have too many forward players that are either past it… not good enough… or injured!!

Past it : Son
Not good enough : Johnson & Werner
Injured : Richy & Odobert

We are also short of a LB & LCB cover… sorry Davies is not good enough…

Therein lies part of the problem…

Ang’s tactics & lack of plan B are the other part of the problem…

There’s a few gutless players also… not going to name them… but you can guess!!

One issue is that for differing reasons Son and Johnson are not wingers and cannot defend. We are effectively playing strikers wide. Werner and Richarlison are the same and the rest are youth.

Regardless, that defending from Johnson was criminal and it was the same for West Ham's goal.

We have a squad perfect for playing wing back system but Ange is just too dumb and stubborn to adapt.

Werner is not good enough but BJ has improved. We wanted a better version of him this season and so far we've got it. You can't argue with the numbers. Whether he is the kind of quality we start with going forward I don't know but he's useful as an attacking player.

Son is past his best, but he is not "past it", he is still a very good player.

Both Johnson & Werner are good players with faults that a great coach could probably correct.
Werner is fast and centers well, but can't shoot worth a damn.
Johnson's performances go up or down with his level of confidence. Ipswich game was down.
VDV is unreliable due to injury.
Aussieglu's lack of plan B is going to be his undoing. I don't see him lasting out this season, maybe not past Xmas.
As for gutless players, we already have enough injuries.

Sandy...having read your analysis of our squad based upon the Ipswich result,..............

I'm thinking you're going to end life, probably rather soon, a very very disappointed man. Spurs is certainly not ever going to have a squad that pleases you. Nor a manager, for that matter.

You must know by now, really......that ENIC is never ever going to spend to build a premiership winning team. What we have now, and have always had for the past 30 years, is an also-ran squad.
This season's squad is actually quiet good and could win something if it was managed by a strategist rather than by a clown, Mate.

Sandy as u said u were optimistic last week and said you are Ange in. This article says you expect him to be sacked, but do you WANT him sacked? Are u in or out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't particularly want him sacked, but it will be inevitable over the coming weeks and the fixtures coming up. At the end of the day it's a results business, and managers live and die by that. I was on Pochettino's case with similar results, so would be hypocritical to not say Ange will go the same way unless results improve, which this side of Xmas would take a miracle to improve.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough! Although difference was you actively celebrated/wanted his sacking.

For what it’s worth I’’m indifferent at this point but think levy will give him the season. If he gets sacked i won’t be upset though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't celebrate. But he had to go, because the results were so bad. Spurs hadn't won an away Prem match for something like six months. As I said mabagers are judged on their results. Every manager in history gets the sack off of poor results, whatever his record may have been. Plenty of managers have won trophies, only to find themselves sacked when results dip. Not sure why some of our fanbase think Poch should be treated differently.

I would be amazed if Ange doesn’t last the season. We would have to be being dragged into a relegation battle, and probably have been knocked out of the cups too.
