Yet again the utter filth that is ingrained into mainstream religion rears it's ugly head.
This despicable creature wasn't actually the perpetrator...but he might as well have been, whilst he let the abuser who worked for the Church get away with it without being brought to justice.
How many more are at it...either directly or indirectly....?
Why do people still choose to believe in this stuff when it's knee deep in perverts & those in charge that allow it to happen....and then spout utter nonsense to the sheep that follow them to make themselves virtuous.
Welsby needs to be charged, the fackin Pious hypocrite
And when he fesses up like the good christian he is, all the other cover up merchants can be hauled in by the CPS & charged too
Organised Religion in the gutter again

Genuine question and not at the WUM but can any of the Christians explain how the Christians who believe that the Earth is only 6000yrs old and there were no dinosaurs? (I get it's not all Christians btw)
This discourse today has brought that to my memory and I honestly just wonder how they explain it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm Christian, and I do not believe what you have just said.

Never heard of creationism? Your not really as bright as you'd like to think are you?

I am not saying that though. Please read through all my comments, I have engaged with the OP.
People who have misused their authority in religion need to be made to answer for it, and that goes for everything all the corrupt stuff and starting wars in the name of religion.
What I am saying, is the people on here who want nothing to do with religion are fine to do so, but do not be a hypocrite and celebrate religious holidays and then try and justify it by saying that said holidays have lost all religious meaning, because guess what ? They haven't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To you maybe, for the majority in the UK it's about a Wispa Gold in an old sock and fighting during a game of monopoly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is fine. I have no arguments over that. If that is what people see it as, then thats their thing.
But to totally dismiss religion as the spawn of everything that is bad in life is also wrong.
If people are against religion, then do not have Wispa golds and play monopoly during the festive period, as without religion, there would not be a festive period.

STFU. Oh and an extra FU.

Christmas may have began as a religious celebration but it sure as shat isn't viewed that way by many now so why are we pretending it is?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We’re not. We’re just saying without religion you’d have no Christmas. It wouldn’t exist.
It’s also an.event atheists for eg have continued to embrace because they like it so much. Sure they’ve dispensed with the meaning and origins - but they don’t want to stop doing it. That’s basically taking the bits you like out of religion and getting rid of the stuff you don’t
Basically in a round about way - everyone’s a bit of hypocrite

Every culture in the northern hemisphere had mid-winter festivals. Tannenbaum, yule logs. It was a celebration of the return of the Sun not the birth of some god's son.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason the entire western world celebrates Christmas on 25th December is because Emporer Constantine fused the pagan ritual of Saturnalia with the birth of Christ to unify the Christians and the pagans
Then over centuries other winter traditions from Scandinavia etc got borrowed and mixed in. But the reason we celebrate Christmas on 25th and exchange gifts is because of the deliberate decision Constantine made

What's Tannenbaum?
Yule logs? Is that the religious pagan festival?
What are these cultures that weren't religious?

Regarding Welby, I’ve never rated him for a minute and quite frankly, good riddance! As far as I’m concerned, he was nothing more than a puppet and a real bad one at that. Questionable decision making right from the start from him. The so called Church of England has been spiritually dead for years. I see little to no evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit there at all. No wonder Christianity in this country is, as the OP says, in the gutter. It’s a crying shame.
Having said that, there is and always will be a remnant who do have real faith in the Lord. There’s still good ‘churches’ (Biblically a church is the group of people who believe, not the building) around this country who hold fast to actual Biblical teachings, not the wishy washy lukewarm stuff the Church of England comes out with and we certainly do not engage in the despicable acts that make these types of headlines
I’m not excusing any of the bad stuff for a second and those carrying out these sick things will get their punishment sooner or later (the later will not be good for them) but I’ve always believed these things make the headlines to put people off God/ Christianity - one of the devil’s tactics. Not all of Christianity is bad. God Almighty is good, people are flawed Christian or not

That is correct and hence why I don’t celebrate it even though I believe in Christ’s birth, death and resurrection

I don't celebrate it because I'm not religious.
However I would definitely prefer people to celebrate something symbolic and meaningful to them than to celebrate buying whatever the latest toy/tech is for each other.
Consumerism is the modern religion and it exploits everyone.

The historically negative impacts of religion are ever decreasing as society develops, and i think people should start to focus on the positive impact it can have, and certainly there is no need to hate it in most cases
