interview on Sky.
This guy really gets it. He recognises all the problems and what work needs to be done. I like the fact that Amorim recognises that everyone else is obsessed with the system, but he knows it is more than that. It's about general football intelligence, and getting the players into thinking the way he needs them to. It's about getting to know his players, and getting them to bust a gut.
He also accepts that the players were playing slightly confused, because obviously they were trying to take in what they had been instructed, so they were thinking too much rather than playing naturally.
Progress will take time, but this is how it has to be - of course results are important, but he needs both improving results, but also seeing the players adopt how he needs them to play. I like the fact he says that the team needs to take some risks, there's no point just trying to win without having the style of play also, otherwise no progress is made.
I liked how he talked, and you just feel he will communicate this with the players. The next few weeks will probably be a mixed bag, but in the long term I genuinely feel he will make good progress.
Just watched Amorim

The well renowned smile on his face has been wiped off pretty quickly. He didn't seem happy with Ed Sheeran's appearance and the amount of media commitments in general.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Surely he can just refuse to do half of them. He said this week's he's spoken more to the media than a whole year at sporting or something.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He hinted at as much in the interview when he said he did them this week but has spoken to someone (can’t remember the name he said) and from now on he wants to work with his players. I think he was basically saying that he’s done all that was asked in his first week or two but now it’s down to work. Although obviously there will be obligations he has to adhere to.

He's just said something about doing more interviews in a week than he's done in 4 years at Sporting. 😂
Obviously said tongue in cheek but I actually have to agree with him there. The amount of repetition they have to do with the countless media channels is stupid.

All useless unless he can address it all.

sometimes... winning games is important. More than the style of play at that moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not right now, though.
Compromise was ETH’s downfall, ultimately. Amorim needs to employ his system, employ his standards, and hammer both into the players relentlessly.
Fack the results; he needs to update United, and a large part of that is going to be working out which players suit the roles which need filling, buy in and commit, and which need shipping out.
There’s no point in moderation and compromise to try to create a style of play which better suits the players we have in order to quick-fix results if that ultimately at best delays the project and at worst sees it fail completely.

If the players realise he's not for turning then they have two options. Shape up or accept they'll no longer have a future. For all of these players it won't get any better in terms of size of club and salary.
I think we'll see pretty quickly which players he trusts and which he doesn't really rate in terms of a long term future.

You could have Pep, Ferguson, Klopp, Tuchel or any other top manager at Man Utd and they will struggle to win games of football. I honestly think we have the worst attack in the history of football. It actually cracked me up when they said ten hag relies on individual brilliance. These players literally the worst finishing team in history of football.

I have been watching Man Utd games from around 1997 and this current strike force is the worst I have seen of any team in football, let alone Man Utd. If I was the Man Utd owner, I would get rid of Garnacho, Rashford, Zirkzee, Mount and even Fernandes. ten Hag was working miracles really, we were creating more than most of our title winning squads to average just over a goal a game after he took the job.

Well United supporters dont want to watch United lose regularly, as we have done...so fack the results aint gonna work. And Amorim has specifically said that he understands that winning games is important... so I expect him to balance this.
