Hatate and Engels

I suppose the problem is that domestically we don't need a big CDM in there, so mcgregor in that role works just fine even though he isn't very good defensively.

But if thats the case he needs to the one to collect and get the ball moving. Space was an issue last night, to be honest they played their tactics brilliantly.

Hatate has been poor for quite some time now and he’s being lauded on past exploits. Hope he gets back to his earlier form because when he’s on it; he’s a huge difference to the team in being able to open up defences.

Engels time will come. He’s a player and a half.

Right now though, neither deserve a place in the starting eleven.

I'm not so clean cut on Hatate.. he's had real moments of quality and creativity in lots of games this season, stuff that nobody else in our team appears to be capable of doing.

The issue is that it often doesn't come off and due to the nature of the risky pass it leaves us exposed. We routinely get away with it at domestic level but it puts us in real trouble in the CL.

On the flip side when it comes off it can be the difference between winning a game or not, and it's a joy to watch too. I think we as fans have to lower our expectations sometimes.. if he was pulling off every creative pass he tries he'd be playing at a far higher level.

We are what we are. We either have solid but consistent players or mercurial but inconsistent players. Once every 3-4 years we find a player that has both positive qualities and we make a tidy profit on them.

It's frustrating at times but it's just where we are.

I don't know. Paolo Bernardo has more of an influence on games in his <30 minute cameos than Engels has in his 60 mins every game.
BTW Paul Bernardo was just denied parole again. TF.
