Looking longer term, regardless of

whether the manager changes or not. Surely it is not sustainable to have the two main CBs missing so many games, especially mainly at the same time. I think the club have to look at replacing both. Romero not overly fussed, and I reckon Spurs can still get some decent money for. Micky I really like, but I think the injuries will be a constant problem in his career because of the way he plays. Sadly I don`t think he will have that long a career.

This season of the 27 matches Spurs have played, Romero has started 14, Micky just 10. With both not expected to return until January, although I suspect it will be Feb/March for both, as the club have been particularly silent over these two players. Meaning they will likely both missing another nine games in January, and maybe even half a dozen in February. Something surely has to change for next season. Cannot go that many games without the 1st choice CBs.

Short term, may bring in a couple of CBs in January, but long term, the club will have to spend some big money on CBs that are not injury prone. cannot have another season like this.

Haven`t got a clue which CBs are available. Right now not a great deal of top class defenders to pick from. And let`s be fair, lots of top players are not going to be coming to Spurs.

It`s going to be a really tricky January to follow a dismal December. It will get worse before it gets better.

Happy New Year in advance.

When we have a competent manager we'll see far less injuries.

Apparently VDV had one hamstring injury in his career before joining spurs. He's now on his fourth under Angeball...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure you can blame the manager. It`s just the modern game. It`s all 100 mph these days. Would you rather he just stood like a statue? Whoever he plays for he will have the same problems. Big shame really, because he is a hugely talented player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you can apportion some blame to Ange, regardless of his style, since he threw him back after injury straight into the Chelsea game and he got injured again. It was a high risk move. You usually transition players back slowly into the team but seems Ange got desperate for a result, which we didn't even get.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think Ange was between a rock and a hard place, and fell for the pressure. He should have eased in VDV deffo. With Romero, it is unsure as the player has tendency to declare himself fit when he may not be.

But to throw tantrum because of the incidents, when we are still at an early stage of the Ange revolution is it childlish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The 1 year and 4 months on "revolution"....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so you want it to be revolution in 3/4 months?

Fergie, arguably one of the most successful managers in the PL era, took over 4 years before his side started showing reaping rewards of his training and tactics.

It takes time. 1 year and 4 months inc, losing one of the best strikers in the league and getting rid of deadwoods.

Almost all replaced with teenage ninjas - cheapos a la Levy style transfers.

Any player who has a heart beat and was cheap, we went for him. Solomon comes to my mind.

I think we need to chill out a bit. No one will come in now who will make any difference. We need to just toughen up and ride it out. Give Ange his full second season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fergie was a once in a generation great who had done amazing things with Aberdeen before he came to United. I can see why he was given the time he had. It would be kind of like if you were to get Alonso and he was struggling now. You'd still want to give him time because you know there is a possible elite manager in there.

Does anyone think Ange is a possible elite manager based on what he's done with Celtic and Wallaby FC etc.? Even what he's doing here, it just looks like signs of a man clearly out of his depth in this league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was Klopp an elite manager before he took charge of Liverpool?

I think that is in no way a reason to not give Ange some time.

I am not an Ange outright fan but I see what#s been happening at the club for the last few managers>

Club hires someone, and the fans start putting on the clock, and demand the manager gets us a trophy within a very short time.

I want to see more stability at management level, and Levy backing the manager and not use fickle fans to divide and conquer his mainstay. Levy must go
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Klopp was a very highly regarded manager having won twice with Dortmund in a league dominated by Bayern, and reached a CL final with them. What Ange has done pales in comparison. Won the SPL with the best team in the SPL and other trophies in poor quality leagues.

Ange has had 18 months and there's been no progress. We're losing games at the same rate we were last season.

I have a feeling whatever Ange may say, ie he's been saying he is close to getting it right if we lose the next 2 games, I am convinced a knee jerk reaction from Levy.

well Ange has the same reputation too and in fact, some of our fans were highly in favour of him too up to 2/3 weeks ago.

I think all the love given to Ange, will now shows us how fickle our lot are.

Levy is about to sack Ange if we lose the next 2/3

Unfortunately you are probably right, lose the next two home matches, and Ange will be toast, whatever the circumstances. Football is a results business at the end of the day, and all managers live and die by their results.

The same rep as Klopp? He does not. Nobody looked at his career and thought he was one of the top managers in Europe, like they did Klopp.

Unlike a number of our fans last season, I was never that bowled over by the job of getting to 5th. No Europe, no cups to focus on (because we went out of them early) and plenty of money spent. Minimum requirement should have been to get European qualification. Our fans and the media overrated him based on that.

Levy is now under pressure… he has to bring players in this transfer window… even if it’s on loan, until the summer…

2 CB’s…. CM…. & a striker

In the meantime… Ang has to play Dorrington at CB tomorrow… if he attempts to play Bissouma there… & we lose… then he has to go…

I know he’s obstinate… but… you cannot play 2 CMs at CB’s…that would be soccer suicide!!

posted 7 hours, 43 minutes ago

We have the 3 young CBs coming through. With two currently out on loan. All 3 should be part of the squad next season.

That’s said. I’d sell Dragusin. Don’t rate him. If as some reports state Romero will be going in the summer, we will need another two experienced CBs.

I’d start with Palace’s Lacroix!

posted 4 hours, 9 minutes ago

For me, I'd give Dragusin more time, everything else Belfast, couldn't agree more

posted 2 hours, 49 minutes ago

Current rumor is that Real Madrid are bidding for Micky Van De Ven.
I just love this player, but given his hamstring record it may be as well to sell him .
Romero we must keep (Oh I know Sandy doesn't like that, but Sandy doesn't know peanuts about what the alternatives are!)
Personally I like the pairing of Romero and VDV.
I would prefer we switch Dragusin and VDV alternating matches to keep VDV fit.

posted 2 hours, 47 minutes ago

I have heard nothing about Romero leaving.
In fact he's on record as saying he like playing for Aussieglue and Tottenham.
