Zirkzee

Felt bad for him last night. He shouldn't have been singled out like that when the whole team was awful.

To be fair, with Bruno and Ugarte suspended his options were pretty limited yesterday.

Mainoo doesn’t seem to thrive in a two man midfield, and the manager is keen to stick with his principles.

I do think this manager has been a bit unfortunate. Shaw and Mount seem like the right profile of player for his system, but neither have been available to him.

As for suspension, aside from Bruno being a muppet, he can’t really do much about it.

I appreciate that Amorim is new to what is happening also and is sticking to his guns, but part of his learning curve will probably be the need to tweak things at times, and it doesn't mean he is abandoning his principals.
Tbh, it wouldn't have made much difference to the result, we were that poor, but when I saw the starting line-up, we were really praying for a miracle, and I just thought any extra body in midfield would have helped with Mainoo in front of the other 2. But it's gone now and we could have had 12 on the pitch and still lost

The OT crowd were shameful. Horrendous manager tactics and he scapegoats the striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn’t playing as a striker though, which was one of the (many) problems. Playing behind the striker, Kirkzee looked an even bigger donkey than usual. Newcastle were passing through the midfield like they were playing a bunch of red and white traffic cones.

Which they were. Our midfield is traffic cones

Elsewhere around Europe , these players would have gotten a visit from the ultras at the training ground this morning after that performance last night.
Thankfully ( or not ) we don't seem to have that same culture here.

We need a scapegoat, plus no one wants to admit the manager plays suicidal tactics
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We were 14th when he was hired. We are 14th now.

It's not tactics that are the problem. The players are just crap mate. They weren't playing well in a system they understood better so cut the nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were 4 pts of 3rd place when he arrived. Now we're are 14pts off. He has somehow managed to make this rabble even worse by rubbish tactics and lack of flexibility.

Within 6 weeks he has managed to alienate 3 players. Doesn't bode well for the long term as he will still need 70% of these players next season.

And to even utter relegation is a possibility. Has he lost his mind?

As for Zirkzee. Someone had to come off else it'd have been 5 by HT. Making him do the walk of shame back to the bench (I believe is what happened) was diabolical. Hee could just have let him slink back after halftime 😂

It could have been any player coming off and it would’ve got a similar reaction.

It should have been Eriksen.

Might as well just embrace it and play Sékou Koné.

I was at the game.

Been going to OT for over 30 years - never seen the crowd do that to a player.

There was a couple of geordie fans behind me who snuck in the United end, and they were appalled by our fans.

I was ashamed of the fans who jeered I have to say - completely out of order and would say it was more day trippers than season ticket holders.

Booing ones own players off is pointless.
Certainly not going to help that player improve. Zirkzee stands out on the pitch because his hair is easy to spot. Every bad touch is amplified. Easy to spot when he's had a good game too. Unfortunately for utd they're less frequent.

It could break his confidence and potentially affect his career going forward
