We need a scapegoat, plus no one wants to admit the manager plays suicidal tactics

posted 4 days, 23 hours ago

It was Amorim's fault, which he even admitted to, but your fans aren't gonna turn against him this early, so Zirkzee was hung out to dry.

Hopefully his last game for us and he goes to Juve

It does seem like we always need a scapegoat.
We did it with Pogba , Lukaku , Fred , Martial , Sancho and now Zirkzee. I'm noticing a trend here ...

Zirkzee is a horrendous footballer by PL standards. He should never have been brought to the club, so on that basis I do feel for him. It’s on the club, and we were found lacking again with this one.

Lukaku was good for us until we stopped singing about his d!ck.

Bad, lazy players don’t become fan favourites?

They're not scapegoats they're part of the problem. We can't all say the recruitment has been pi55 poor one minute, then start listing players and saying they're scapegoats.

I didn't like the cheers when Zirkzee went off. It's not his fault he's not been good enough. But what happened last night with him has nothing to do with the fact most of the squad are sheite or simply don't give enough of a fck.

To be fair, Sancho aside every player you listed was a regular starter when they were fit.

We were 14th when he was hired. We are 14th now.

It's not tactics that are the problem. The players are just crap mate. They weren't playing well in a system they understood better so cut the nonsense.

Jones, Shaw, Cleverley, Fletcher

All absolutely battered by fans at times during their United careers.

#Still14th

Take solace from that.

If history is to be used as a marker then we’re probably at least 5 seasons off 20th.

A lot of it is on the players, but Amorim (and I'm a big fan) still needs to accept some responsibility also.

I recognise all the changes being made, but Cas and Erik in midfield is a recipe for disaster, especially against decent teams. If he's using them 2, throw in an extra body and go 3-5-2. It's not a massive departure from 3-4-3 and the best managers know they need to adjust slightly in certain games

To be fair, with Bruno and Ugarte suspended his options were pretty limited yesterday.

Mainoo doesn’t seem to thrive in a two man midfield, and the manager is keen to stick with his principles.

I do think this manager has been a bit unfortunate. Shaw and Mount seem like the right profile of player for his system, but neither have been available to him.

As for suspension, aside from Bruno being a muppet, he can’t really do much about it.

He wasn’t playing as a striker though, which was one of the (many) problems. Playing behind the striker, Kirkzee looked an even bigger donkey than usual. Newcastle were passing through the midfield like they were playing a bunch of red and white traffic cones.

I appreciate that Amorim is new to what is happening also and is sticking to his guns, but part of his learning curve will probably be the need to tweak things at times, and it doesn't mean he is abandoning his principals.
Tbh, it wouldn't have made much difference to the result, we were that poor, but when I saw the starting line-up, we were really praying for a miracle, and I just thought any extra body in midfield would have helped with Mainoo in front of the other 2. But it's gone now and we could have had 12 on the pitch and still lost

Elsewhere around Europe , these players would have gotten a visit from the ultras at the training ground this morning after that performance last night.
Thankfully ( or not ) we don't seem to have that same culture here.

We were 4 pts of 3rd place when he arrived. Now we're are 14pts off. He has somehow managed to make this rabble even worse by rubbish tactics and lack of flexibility.

Within 6 weeks he has managed to alienate 3 players. Doesn't bode well for the long term as he will still need 70% of these players next season.

And to even utter relegation is a possibility. Has he lost his mind?

As for Zirkzee. Someone had to come off else it'd have been 5 by HT. Making him do the walk of shame back to the bench (I believe is what happened) was diabolical. Hee could just have let him slink back after halftime 😂

It could have been any player coming off and it would’ve got a similar reaction.

It should have been Eriksen.
