When Moyes came out and said that United had to be realistic and that Liverpool was ahead of United, he shot all his goodwill and fans turned on him. No way ever a United manager could say such thing.
Amorim has just come out saying United need to prepare for a relegation battle, said the team is crap, and it is embarrassing to be a United manager right now.
Why is Amorim getting so much praise and backing? All the blame of the poor results are still attributed to ETH. Yet so far Amorim is probably the worst manager you had since Fergie based on stats.
Moyes had Everton punching above their weight for 10 seasons. Amorim won the league in a two team farmers league.
Genuine question. Not here to wum on NYE.
Moyes vs Amorim

What if Rueben loses 6+ 0 vs Liverpool? Sackable too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Under normal circumstances, yes. And dont forget at the same time we were getting beaten by City by 6.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given his limited time here, this isn’t normal circumstances, right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All managers have a limited time to do their job. Hes no different. If he got it right he could do 25 years like Busby and Fergie did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. Thought you might cut him a little slack, but hey ho

Imagine getting sacked after one horrific result.
Wenger would've been turfed out the year before they won the double in 2002

i think it was touch and go for the 8-2.
You seem to ignore the fact that Liverpool and City are our biggest local rivals.
If Arsenal got done by 8 vs Spurs, he would have def got the sack

So RB, what’s your prediction v pool? I don’t think it will be a 7-0 smashing, maybe lose by 1 or 2.

I get the local rivalry but there's no doubt we were Arsenal's biggest rivals at the time. Unless you're suggesting there's rules to this getting sacked after bad results vs some rivals but not others?
Of course I could also quote Mourhino at RM losing 5-0 to Barca in his first classico. 6 months later he beat them in the copa del ray final. A year after that he won RM their first league title in 4/5 yrs.
I don't know but it seems to be the sign of the times that such things would mean so much. 20/30 yrs ago it would've hurt no doubt, but teams and fans generally tended to pick themselves up and just get on with it.

2-3 goals at most would be just about acceptable, any more and its squeeky bum time as fans will get fired up after a big loss against those cants.

Im looking at 3-0. If it becomes a cricket score then we really are facked.

I see it this way - Moyes had no chance of succeeding when SAF left. We didn't bring in any players (bar Fellaini) and the set-up was just wrong. SAF masked a lot of issues at the club. But regardless, Moyes just wasn't the right guy - he didn't look comfortable in the role, so even though he didn't get very good backing, he wouldn't have worked out anyway.
I think Amorim is trying to come across as honest but perhaps is being overly negative, although this may be to protect his own position also. This is all new to him, so he is on a steep learning curve, but perhaps be a bit more positive and could say that a few wins would see us going back up the table. It's a tough role he's inherited, but he is being honest enough to say it's not good enough, and I would prefer he be backed without doubt in the meantime - if it really isn't showing any change in the next couple of months, then naturally more questions will be asked. But I think there is generally a lot of goodwill out there to see him succeed, so we'll just have to monitor over the next few weeks

A rollicking by pool on Sunday and people will be gunning for Rubens head. No managers survives after being pumped by Liverpool.
Ruben needs to approach this game very carefully. Even a 1-0 or 2-0 loss would be respectable. If the numbers get high, it's squeeky bum time for Ruben, in my opinion
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well ETH lasted a good while after 7-0 hammering..................
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah. He lost all credibility and respect after that, from a lot of fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't doubt that, but he was still here a good while after that result. Some felt he should have after that result, but ultimately him going wasn't because of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He lost me and many United fans after the 7-0. If that's not a sackable offence I dont know what is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same here. That result against the mousers should have got him the sack
