Firstly, these were my thoughts prior to this series... So not an overreaction.
These are my views on our weaknesses
Bresnan. Is he really that good a one day bowler? Averages 37... Decent death bowler and lower order batsman. But not a fan.
Dernbach - T20 specialist. Found out at this level by class batsmen. Longer format doesn't suit. I am glad we have given him a chance, he deserved thst.
Patel - Has done pretty well, but doesn't take wickets. Would be a handy 6th choice bowler but batting isn't good enough for the top 6. Worries over fielding.
Kieswetter - His best performance in 50 over match recently was a reduced overs match... Enough said. Class hitter but not a one day opener! Not good against fast bowlers.
What I would do...
Change the balance. Cut out the opwning keeper role. I rhink Hales and Cook would work well. Give Bairstow the gloves batting at 7.
The balance also isn't right. We havw Bopara but give him a few overs. Once Stokes is fit, I would use him and Bopara as the fifth bowler, with Finn, Broad, Swann and Borthwick.
I could see this 6 taking wickets. It has balance, youth and different types of bowler. Anderson and Woakes in reserve.
Droppable...

For england to make a comeback, it had to be this ground. The next 2 pitches are known as spinners paradise and the ball will turn. So its very hard for england to make a comeback. unless they improve in their fielding and bowling at death.

Pietersen and Trott were scoring 6 an over during their time together then when Bopara arrived the rate fell to 4.4 an over, so why is it Trott that is blamed.
He is not in the team as a finisher, that's the job of Bopara, Bairstow and Patel.
Bopara failed to do his job by having 54% of his deliveries dot balls at a crucial time.

Kieswetter has scored 43 runs at an av. of 14.3, can you really say that Bell couldn't have done far better than that.
As a wicket keeper his footwork is worse than when he's batting, causing him to take many deliveries far to the side of his body.
Stepping on the stumps as he did was the sign of a rank amateur not a international class keeper.

Bring back Owais Shah and Luke Wright , Keiswetter looks useless outside t20 not to mention he should start learning to catch. It is amazing that they dropped Prior for this series.

Luke Wright? is this a joke?? as for Owais Shah.hes a liability when running and his fielding isnt to flash either..

I disagree with Trott thingy. Rahane had similar strike rate as him, but nobody would have gone after him if India were to lose.
The reality is that england bowlers were found easy to toss around.
And england fielding...nasser hussain has his surname for it - like a Donkey

Agreed on our fielding. We are missing Bell.
