It was reported yesterday that The Rams have approached Barnsley again, with an increased bid for Jason Shackell.
According to Chronicle online they've offered £1 million.
Our board said that it would be discussed later this week.
We should not consider any bids until Hillcroft have had chance to speak to Jason, and put their plans across to the player.
I think the reports that he wanted to leave BFC were a knee jerk reaction from him following the Robinsgate affair.
Only then should we consider any bids, and £1 million is derisory for a player of Shackells quality.
With the reports of interest from Portsmouth, Burnley, Hull etc,the player is obviously envied elsewhere, we can wait for any more bids to come in, we are under no pressure to sell , as the player has 2 years left on his contract, but I dont think we should hang onto an unhappy player..
If we accept the Derby, bid our board will come under question, by the fans, for again underselling our players.
The fans can accept a player leaving, but only for a realistic fee and for the betterment of the club...
Derby, back again.

Red-One
Why should we resign ourselves to losing Shackell? All I have seen so far is transfer talk. 2 bids have been rejected already, Hill is yet to meet with the player to discuss his future and he still has 2 years to run on his contract at the club.
Should he want to throw a strop and request a move then fine, I will accept it and move on, but until an agreement is reached he is still a Barnsley player.
(prepares for a number of replies flaming me for being delusional)

On the roof.
You didnt give us McEverley.
You offered him a rubbish contract, so he left.
Shacks is under conract to us , so envious clubs have to put their hands into their pockets to tempt us to part with him, he's not a give away....

i know hes not i was being sarcastic, my director at work is a barnsley fan and said if they sell him he wont be renewing his season ticket, is he that good?? what makes him any better than a average champ center back?
both times we have played last season ive been away so not seen anything of him.

Don't believe what you always read, the man's a scouser, he likes a bit of fisty cuffs, that's why we got rid of him from Derby. If you don't believe me ask other Derby fans. ok, ok?
