The reason the board are discussing it later in the week is because Hill and Shacks return from holiday on Wednesday and should meet for the first time on Thursday.

The benchmark for any Shacks fee should be Danny Mills. Reading had to pay £2m to Donny...Wolves have reportedly offered £3.5m for him, of which Donny will receive a cut...

When you look at thee recent transfers of
Tommy Graham Watford to Swansea for £3.5 mill.
Steve Morrison (Millwall to Naarwich, undislosed,( but in excess of £2 million
These values of good Championship players only adds to the case that Shacks value is in those price brackets.
So put up or shut up Derby, Tightwads.

Personally, I hope, and think the player will stay at BFC.
and buy into the Hillcroft package.

Graham and Morison are both strikers. since when has a centre back commanded the same fee?

For what its worth, Swansea have paid waaaay over the odds for Graham too.

Good to see you guys rate shackell so highly, looks like us Derby fans have reason to be optimistic with him in the team next season

How come there are so many Rams on here, then again it is the Baaaa-rnsley forum.

Centre backs are just as important to a team and worthy of an equal transfer fee.
Rio Ferdinand is one such case at the time of his transfers to Leeds and Man U.
And as reported Matt Mills is being touted at £3.5 mill.
Yes Matt ****ing Mills ffs.
Now get a more realistic bid in tightwads.

Do Barnsley have a transfer kitty at the minute?

Genuine question as a Norwich supporting friend of mine reckons you have or are looking to bid £750k for Chris Martin. Is this true?

If you already have funds then fair enough, If not then maybe you have already decided where to spend the Shackell money.

I doubt will be buying Chris Martin, Coldplay are releasing a new album this year so he will be busy with that I reckon.

Calm down dears!
I think your all getting way ahead of yourselves
Shackell has'nt even met up with the new management to discuss where KH wants the club to go,what his plans are etc.
Until something official comes up,then it's all rumour mongering

Why should we resign ourselves to losing Shackell? All I have seen so far is transfer talk. 2 bids have been rejected already, Hill is yet to meet with the player to discuss his future and he still has 2 years to run on his contract at the club.

Should he want to throw a strop and request a move then fine, I will accept it and move on, but until an agreement is reached he is still a Barnsley player.

(prepares for a number of replies flaming me for being delusional)

On the roof.
You didnt give us McEverley.
You offered him a rubbish contract, so he left.

Shacks is under conract to us , so envious clubs have to put their hands into their pockets to tempt us to part with him, he's not a give away....

i know hes not i was being sarcastic, my director at work is a barnsley fan and said if they sell him he wont be renewing his season ticket, is he that good?? what makes him any better than a average champ center back?
both times we have played last season ive been away so not seen anything of him.

Don't believe what you always read, the man's a scouser, he likes a bit of fisty cuffs, that's why we got rid of him from Derby. If you don't believe me ask other Derby fans. ok, ok?
