Just a shout out really for our big man between the sticks who i feel has been an absoloute gem of a signing again by Harry. I have to admit i was disappointed like most of us that we didn't spend big on a keeper as it clearly was an issue last season with Gomes and his countless mistakes so the friedal signing weren't really met with to much excitement.
I knew he has always been a superb keeper but just felt his age was a major issue. How wrong could we/I be. Even at the begining of the season where we let in the goals against City and United none of them were Brads fault. Not only do i feel calm with Friedal between the sticks but he has superb technical ability for a guy that is 41 next year.
I don't get nervous anymore from Corners because Friedal commands the area so much better than Gomes. I don't believe i have seen him Flap once yet from the corner? The only thing i worry about is our defence without king and Gallas but with Big brad between the posts atleast we know we ain't got a problem there anyway. COYS!!!

When Brad signed I wasn't convinced about him, but he has turned into a safe pair of hands

Exactly. Safe but not great. He does all the basics well, but you wont get too many great saves out of him, which i think could be the difference between 4th or not.
Again i'll reiterate, i'm not anti-Friedel but i wish he was more mobile. I know he's 40, but if he wants to continue being looked at as a Prem No.1, then he has got to be as fit & quick as our No.2 & No.3 goalies, which he isnt.

He is such a consistent keeper, except for when he plays badly.

I'm sorry Don but i am still sticking by original opinion. For easy reference i wrote this before:
"Also as i say, try watching him when we concede a corner. He shows no interest in coming out, catching or punching, he just stands there relying on his defenders. And i dont like this part of his game".
I have honestly never seen a pro keeper so static. If i were an opposing team's manager i would simply give orders to aim all crosses, free-kicks, corners & even throw-ins to the edge of, or just inside, our 6 yard box.
We just cannot rely on our defenders winning every single header from that range, especially when the attckers just need a flick & its in.
I'm really worried about this & very surprised this isn't being addressed.
