Mark Hughes

It appears the odds on Mark Hughes becoming are next manager are shortening. MON and Billy Davies seem to be drifting.

Thoughts on Hughes?

Blackburn finished bottom of the Prem fair play league in all 4 seasons Hughes was in charge there – is that really what we want, a team of cloggers?

Well our disciplinary record isn't great as it is.

Don't want Hughes, he's very uninspiring and has only really done midtable jobs without any 'fireworks' (and no I'm not on about Balotelli).

I mean he's not a terrible manager but he's never going to be a great one either.

If we can't get O'Neill I'd like to see us go for Di Matteo. Failing that, you could throw a blanket over Billy Davies, Lee Clark and Karl Robinson, all offer something a bit different and have impressive CVs - the latter 2 not in this division but they are young and you have to start somewhere.

I doubt we'll get RDM, recently appointed number 2 at Chelsea so I don't think he'll leave there.

But you're right in that, behind O'Neill, there are many candidates who all have pro's and con's. It's vital we get this decision right though.

True but is it possible he could be lured by our very attractive job, I mean surely he has ambitions to be more than a number 2 even if it is at Chelsea? I think it's possible, more likely than O'Neill coming anyway.

where have you got mon is drifting in the betting
opened at 7/2 11/8 1/2 and now 1/4 looks like a certainty to me

Well that means one of two things.

Firstly, they are, as you say, certain that MON is about to take the job (but then you'd question why they hadn't closed the betting) or that there are so many bets being placed that they've shortened the odds just to minimize their losses if it were to happen.

William Hill are the only ones to have him odds-on though. What can we read into that? If anything?

Have heard this evening from the partner of a senior staff member at the club that MON is definitely being offered the role.

Obviously that's a completely different kettle of fish from whether he will consider or accept it.

I saw the William Hill odds in the Merc earlier, they had Gary McAllister at 10s and Derek Fazackerley at 14s

I think that says a lot about them!

I know its written in the Mirror but they have written MO has 48 hrs to decide,so he has been approached (well according to the mirror)
