Derby 3 Portsmouth 1 - Old One-Eye's view

The Old One-Eye View - Rampant Rams Pummel Pompey
Mon 31st Oct 2011 12:27 by Old One-Eye

Observant Old One-Eye readers, of which there are three, will notice that the above headline is, in fact, precisely the headline that was used 51 weeks ago, the last time that the Pompey fleet sailed into Derby.

The rest of OOE's drivel can be found here...

Totally agree, Marco.

'Mister Sitter' is fast becoming my favourite player at the moment - the effort he puts in makes up for his failings in my book, and as you say, his failings are becoming less noticeable week by week.

Another brilliant Clough signing.

Did you listen to the phone-in tonight?

They were asking for everybody's first choice xi assuming everyone was fit.

Bloomfield, Davies and all the muppets who text in ALL has tyson in ahead of robinson!

Unbe-flamin'-lievable

Like i said, idiots.

I can understand where they are coming from, and remarked on it to the MemSahib a couple of minutes ago.

Nathan Tyson a couple of years ago was DEADLY!!! so I can understand their choice. Theo just might turn out to be an absolute gem though.

So, MILF and Eddie, why weren't Paul Green and Miles Addison included?

They DID ask for a team based on EVERYONE being fit.

Would you play green ahead of bryson/hendrick view?

I wouldn't...and barker/shackell beats addison.

However, we'll NEVER have a fully fit squad so it's all irrelevant anyhow

Hmmmmmmmmm.......a FULLY fit, on fire Green and Addison??? Maybe MILF, I dunno but as you quite rightly say its all conjecture and supposition....and bollox

Difficult decision. When Addison broke into the team, I thought that we were looking at a great in the making. Not as a central midfielder though, but as a centre half. He still might.

At the moment, I'm willing to wager that O'Brien and Hendrick will earn more than 50 international caps between them - but equally I might be wrong.

One thing's certain though - there's more promise in the current Derby side since the Jim Smith days - and it's been assembled on a shoestring.

Marco I agree, the problem is most fans are so short sighted that they cannot see past the end of their nose without being told what is in front of them.

Robinson was a gamble, but as a young lad we should have showed faith in him and I think he is really showing more faith/dignity to derby then derby is showing back, which says a lot about him. He needed time to find his feet, now he is, he is showing what Clough saw in him.

As for Green/Addison, I think Addison will make the squad, but not the team, with o'brian and barker both ahead of him and Shackell sort of unmovable at the moment...injures praying : P
-Green is a must in my books, though I love the play of Bryson and Hendricks, I worry that our problems come from them both being two attacking...still that not much of a problem and nice to think once fit, we have Bryson, Bailey, Hendrick and Green all fighting for our CM, cannot think of many teams with that quality in that position.

Eddie: perhaps he's retired entirely and has changed his name by deed poll to Rob Earnsnowt....
