Lack of leadership.

First and foremost i agree with many of the articles that have been popping up on here of recent days in fans saying lets all get behind the team on Sunday and raise the roof of the Reebok like we did at times last season.
We were rocking in that much needed win over Arsenal last April and it would be fantastic to see such a good support this Sunday against Stoke who are well known for being their teams 12th man against visiting teams.
Stoke make a lot of noise and we need to be in full voice to drawn them out on Sunday so lets all put our differences aside for a few days and support the team and if we do not get a positive result then we can return to our normal ways.

But my main point of this article is i really feel we are lacking leadership on the field this season, With Kevin Davies struggling this season and in and out of the team i think it is time to take the captains armband away from him and let him concentrate on trying to regain some type of form again.
Zat Knight has worn the band but is not even good enough to be in the team this season let alone lead the team, Cahill is the obvious choice but i do tend to feel with him being out of contact this summer and no new deal looking like it will be signed he seems to be elsewhere this season, I do not blame him he must be worried about the teams form affecting his England chances he has only just become a regular starter alongside Terry and must be worried he could be dropped if he continues with us this season and may even be thinking of his January transfer to new pastures to cement his Euro 2012 place.

Stuart Holden would have been the obvious choice to be captain if not for his injury he seems a born leader and could run things very well from the middle of the park.
I feel the right choice at present for captain is Nigel Reo Coker he is an ever present for us this season, Works hard and really seems to care about the team after Wheaters story in the BEN this Monday maybe Reo Coker could be the man to lead us during this tough time and we can relook at the situation in the summer if we get out of this situation we find ourselves in.

I am not Reo Cokers biggest fan i do find him a tad of the pace but you cannot fault his commitment to the team and the cause and he could maybe be the man to give us some much needed leadership and discipline on the field when things are going wrong for us.

What do you guys think? And of course who would be your choice for captain and why.

Cahill should be captain, by far.

Always organising, talking to his team mates, encouraging and the other players look up to him.

Cahill oozes confidence and calmness. Something that our players need a bit of

I wouldn't make Holden captain. I wouldn't want that to get in the way of his game.

I don't think it would though, Nolan thrived off it.. The fact he lost pace made him a worse player, Okocha was never a leader.. Holden would be I think. Very professional. It would be NRC, Holden vice with Cahill set to leave soon.

Holden is too young, and doesn't seem as vocal as Nolan was.

Holden is 26, Reo Coker 27, Cahill 25, Nolan was 23 when he was made captain. Age doesnt really have much of an effect if they are right for the job.

He has the right mentality and professionalism too lead in that manner, Before NRC i would have made Holden captain because he is vocal and he is a leader on the pitch, maybe not in a way that he muscles people about, but how he conducts himself.

NRC would be my choice though, captain at 21 at West Ham, captain at Villa last season, has the mentality and experience to have such a role. He is a winner. Holden as vice however.

Holden is not vocal enough. And he strikes me as a young kind of young. Unlike Cahill.

Cahill will be gone in the summer possibly January if he wants to go to the Euros as number one choice to start alongside Terry.
It does not make any sense to make him captain at present unless the contract situation changes anytime soon.

personally i would be tempted to try making jussi captain as he is very vocal, see's the whole game in front of him and by doing this it might give him back the spirit and desire to keep aclean sheet that seems to have faded in the last couple of seasons, NRC is a good choice but i dont agree with a player in his first season at the club being made captain so jussi for this season then if it dosn't work out swap to NRC next season

Jussi is not vocal at all he fails to control his box so i refuse to believe he could motivate the team from that position to be fair.

I agree that Holden should not be captain. If we go down, he may also have played his last game for BWFC, thanks to that potato muncher Evans.

Lets stay in the here and now and give it to NRC or Cahill.
