Not often I find myself agreeing with Poll but on this ocassion he is 100% correct.
The referee, Lee Mason, clearly under pressure from the understandably incredulous United players went to consult with Collin, as he is entitled to do. He then reversed the original decision and awarded the free kick to the home side.
Now, if Mason had seen Ji handle then he would have immediately awarded the kick against him as there was no advantage and the Sunderland man should have been cautioned for the handling offence. So, on what basis was the decision reversed?

The other incidents which stood out on Saturday all involved the Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez. He again went to ground far too easily at Anfield to try and win his team a penalty against an outstanding Swansea side.
Suarez, not content with trying to convince the referee that he should have at least two penalties every match, also asks for cards for his opponents – one of the least edifying aspects of professional players’ modern day actions.

The desicion was correct in the end so however it came about, the correct decision was made in the end
Let's talk about the linesman.
You can't give a pen unless you are 100% sure it is a pen
No way could a lino see who handled it side on in this situation (The point being he actually got it wrong)

Surely the ref can over-rule a linesman's flag? If there's any doubt he can't give it. Strange thing for me was that he gave it immediately when he obviously wasn't sure.
Still, correct decision made in the end and everyone happy...

But he didn't.
If he had blown he would have done so because he saw something but he didn't blow.
The limesman gave a pen. Now if the ref saw handball but didn't blow then he meant to play on so therefore he was wrong to give ManU a freekick as that indicates he did see it but we know he didn't because he didn't blow.

Poll's article implies that he's baffled as to how the ref and lino came to the right decision having initially given the wrong one, not that they got it wrong.
Right decision, apart from not cautioning Ji.

Like I said, the linesman seems to be escaping your analysis. The point of the article is not to discuss theincident as a whole, the point is to pick out the bit where somehow u think we were favoured. It's actually pretty sad tbh dude. You need to grow a pair
If this had happened to Chelsea you would be first in the queue saying the decision was correct and I'd be agreeing with you.
