Now, if Mason had seen Ji handle then he would have immediately awarded the kick against him as there was no advantage and the Sunderland man should have been cautioned for the handling offence. So, on what basis was the decision reversed?
----
My thought were mason could have thought the linesman gave it for a push, meaning that ji handled the ball due to the push.
I havent seen the suarez one but i suppose dalglish will still say hes honest...

The linesman put his flag across his chest indicating a penalty so Mason could not have been confused as to what the linsmen meant.

That just signals a penalty, not what the infringement was
But that doesn't matter. He signalled a penalty. The ref gave nothing.
It doesn't matter why he gave it,he gave it and the ref had no business overturning it.Period.
The ref doesn't have to give a free kick for handball if he deems it accidental, but if the linesman is incorrectly signalling for a penalty then he needs to stop the game

Desperate mate
The desicion was correct in the end so however it came about, the correct decision was made in the end
Let's talk about the linesman.
You can't give a pen unless you are 100% sure it is a pen
No way could a lino see who handled it side on in this situation (The point being he actually got it wrong)
ref's get a hard time all too often so lets not berate one that actually made the right call
"It doesn't matter why he gave it, he gave it and the ref had no business overturning it.Period."
Surely the ref can over-rule a linesman's flag? If there's any doubt he can't give it. Strange thing for me was that he gave it immediately when he obviously wasn't sure.
Still, correct decision made in the end and everyone happy...
(or is the problem here that you're annoyed a penalty wasn't incorrectly given against United?)

That is what Poll is talking about LOL

But he didn't.
If he had blown he would have done so because he saw something but he didn't blow.
The limesman gave a pen. Now if the ref saw handball but didn't blow then he meant to play on so therefore he was wrong to give ManU a freekick as that indicates he did see it but we know he didn't because he didn't blow.
God,read the article before blowing off.

He did. Get over bud.
It's strange your having a go at the ref yet a linesman that made a massive mistake seems to be escaping critisism.
He did not.
Who should I beleive, you a no mark jack ManU fan or an independant top class ref?
Poll's article implies that he's baffled as to how the ref and lino came to the right decision having initially given the wrong one, not that they got it wrong.
Right decision, apart from not cautioning Ji.

Cheers for that.
Like I said, the linesman seems to be escaping your analysis. The point of the article is not to discuss theincident as a whole, the point is to pick out the bit where somehow u think we were favoured. It's actually pretty sad tbh dude. You need to grow a pair
If this had happened to Chelsea you would be first in the queue saying the decision was correct and I'd be agreeing with you.
