Should Rangers lose the tax case

And go into administration, 10 point penalty, move on as Craig Whyte and the players are supercreditors......we can expect bitter, angry comments, blogs, commentaries, TV and editorials denouncing Rangers as being "let off" further fuelling the burning sense of injustice that the celtic minded family feel.
We Rangers fans will be told endlessly that Rangers died and its a "new" club in spite of the factual truth being the opposite. Celtic changed their club company and name in 1994. If they start that nonsense just scare them witless with "so no big one in 67 then" if thats their logic.

And how we shall laugh as we stroll to 4iar.

Stevie - You would be a new club who purchased the assets from a defunct one. You would only be the same club in the eyes of your supporters. It doesnt matter what people call it, in the eyes of the Government, Companies House, all your creditors, UEFA, SPL, SFA and of course Celtic fans you would be a different company trading under a different name. A company formed in 2011 cant talk about 100+ years of proud history. Maybe if your 54 titles were shown on the balance sheet your new club could purchase them, but they're not. 42-0

Let's admit it - we're all full of sho!te on this one. Celtic fans are of course taking the pash out of Rangers and talking of admin and Rangers going burst. On the other hand Rangers fans are pretending this doesn't scare the pants off them when the reality is they are worried about their club's future. Truth is only a few inside Rangers and the Tax people know what's really going on.

"It doesnt matter what people call it, in the eyes of the Government, Companies House, all your creditors, UEFA, SPL, SFA and of course Celtic fans you would be a different company trading under a different name."

Here's me thinking fans, you know football fans....thought of football clubs as precisely that...a club.....not a business, or a company.

Would the old firm rivalry completely die if Rangers folded and came back under a different name??? Course it bloody wouldnt!!!

Are you going to sit there and tell me that Celtic fans would have no reason whatsoever to regards Rangers AFC as their oldest rivals because "the name" is different, because they are a different company??? Does give me such tosh!!!

Course you'd be our rivals Stevie, you'd still be a team from Glasgow playing in the same division and you'd still be challenging for the same trophies we are. Did I even mention the rivalry would disappear? Nope.

A football club is a business, different from most but a business all the same. You cant just run it into the ground attempting to win trophies and then still count these when the a new club is required to replace the defunct one. Start afresh with your liabilites in this way then you have to start afresh with your achievements. Sure you'll still be able to remember a lot of them but that club no longer exists. "The worlds most successful club" would be no more.

"Course you'd be our rivals Stevie, you'd still be a team from Glasgow playing in the same division and you'd still be challenging for the same trophies we are"...and if Partick Thistle were bought by a multi billionaire, they ascended to the top of the SPL, they were challenging for the same trophies Celtic were....would the rivalry with them be as intense???

Didnt think so.

You've not been thinking much have you? Again I'll ask where did I say the rivalry would disappear with your club? A new club would have the same fans as the old one and since rivalry is acted out through the fans this would not change.

But hypothetically speaking, if Rangers did cease to exist and no new club was formed, Thistle were bought by a billionaire and were awesome and your fans shifted to the red and yellow of Glasgow then given enough time the rivalry would get there. Enough years with only 2 teams winning things will do that. The new Thistle fans would still hate Celtic as much and I reckon we'll grow to hate the red and yellow almost as much as the blue.

Right so now its all about the fans?

How have I not been thinking much.

You are sitting there telling me that if Rangers dies, everything that was Rangers dies with it....the history, the heritage, the acheivements....everything!

The old firm rivalry will still exist if Rangers in ANY form still exists, this is the point being made.....you cant say everything about the old Rangers will die if you are not prepared to say the old firm rivalry will also die........the old firm rivalry will always exist if ther is a Celtic and a rangers, in any shape or form, this is the point, and as long as the old firm rivalry exists, the old Rangers or the old Celtic will never die!!

A rivalry with another club will not be the old firm rivalry, it will be a different rivalry, because the reasons for that rivalry existing will be different from the ones that fuel the old firm rivalry...the old firm rivalry can only exist between Celtic and Rangers, and the old firm rivalry will still exist if ANY form of a Rangers football club, playing at Ibrox, wearing blue, being followed by the same fans....still exists!!

You can bullchit your way about and around that all you want, but that is the truth of the matter, and that is why you cant sit there and write off everything about the old Rangers if you are still going to hate any form of Rangers for the same reasons!!
