Ok, now he's back lets have a guess at the team that might start against Palace.
Could it really be:
Weale, Berner, Tunchev, Mills, Peltier, Dyer, Wellens, King, Gallagher, Howard and Nugent ??
Probably not, but if you swap Weale for Schmeichel and Berner for Konchesky I wouldn't be surprised if that team wasn't too far away from the one he actually picks. It may be a bit early for Tunchev, but what will Pearson make of Bamba?
Intriguing ....

Ok you lot, how about a post-1960 all-time best team?
Banks, Izzet, Lennon, Lineker, Heskey and then what?
Gibson produced his best football with Stringfellow so it is both or nothing. Where could you play McLintock? And who were our best defenders? Any thoughts anybody? I am stumped except for Banks. But Shilton was not a bad keeper!! But I think Banks had the edge.

Dungeon master
Im not saying Berner will play more as the game he played towards the end of last season it was clear to see his legs had gone. But i still think he has a role to play as a player coach and i know he was interested in becoming a player coach when Didi Hamann left but Sven choose not to a appoint one.
Maybe Nigel will

I think it's safe to say King and Wellens will be in the starting line up.
As will Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky and Mills.
I'd like to think Peltier will be too.
That makes 4 places for grabs.
I'd suggest Gallagher will play as well. And if fit, Dyer.
So assuming everyone is fully fit, with the only absentees being Bamba (suspended) and Vassell (long term injury) I think:
Kasper
Peltier
Mills
Tunchev
Konchesky
Gallagher
King
Wellens
Dyer
Nugent
Howard.
I'd like to see beckford in for Howard though.

Why oy why Gallagher - technically superb, but lightweight. I'd play Danns instead, being an old Palace player. Also Pearson wanted him at Hull, but he couldn't compete with what Rangers and us were offering.

Pearson would have to bonkers to pick Berner - whom I respect a good deal - ahead of Konchesky, who for me has been at the centre of much of what we have done well this season, and not much to blame for the less good bits.
