Nigel's team for Palace

Alright lads. Long time no see for some of you. Not been on here for ages and just see what other fans thought aswell as what we already have over on not606. Well anyway lets get to my point

Pearson said today its a clean slate for everyone so thats including to forgotten men. Franck Moussa, Moreno, Michael Ball and Tom Kennedy who was Nigels last signing here before he left. But when Stringer mentioned this he also said Bruno Berner was training with the first team for the first time in a long time

I cant see Bruno having a fall out with Sven or maybe he did as Bruno may of wanted a coaching role after Hamann left.

Do you think im reading too much into it or is there something there. Well we all know Nigel and Bruno will get on really well like they did before

I think Konchesky will keep his place under Pearson for the simple reason he's a good solid full back. That will suit what I'm expecting to be a more flat 4-4-2 formation.

As for Bamba, I am his biggest critic. But having heard a lot if people say that Pearson won't like him, I really think the opposite. I think Pearson will get the best out of him.

I'm pretty sure the back 4 will remain as Peltier, Mills, Bamba and Konchesky on sat. It's what happens in front of them that will change.

I think Pearson can make that back 4 very difficult to break down.

Isn't Bamba suspended for this game, I think he's accumulated too many bookings, but I'm not sure

Proud_Fox - I doubt that we'll suddenly see a lot of Bruno Berner in and around the starting line-up because he's looked so far off the pace over the last year or so that it seems an impossible task to get back. However, Berner's clearly an articulate guy and a good reader of the game, so there may well be legs in his possible promotion as a first team coach. After all, it worked with Chris Powell when Pearson was here. As for the rest, Tom Kennedy is a partiucarly interesting name to throw into the hat. After all, Pearson was the one who signed him originally, just before he left. I wonder how Kennedy's feeling about all this...

Merseyside - Isn't Bamba suspended for the Palace match anyway? And with Tunchev apparently not fully fit, I would expect a partnership of Mills and St. Ledger. Who plays in the next match is another matter! Let's just say that St. Ledger has to impress.

Joby - I think it'll be:

Schmeichel
Peltier
Mills
Bamba
Konchesky
Gallagher
King
Wellens
Dyer
Nugent
Beckford

And I'd be surprised not to see Howard at least on the bench.
However, it's a very tough call with a new manager and his first impressions. A lot may depend on the fitness test being done today, especially in midfield.

I'm not too sure who will even be in the 16 let alone start to be honest, but I'd guess at something like:

Schmeichel
Peltier
Mills
St Ledger
Konchesky
Danns
King
Wellens
Gallagher
Nugent
Howard

I think Oakley will be given the option to come back if he so wishes, and he, along with Berner and Howard, will be given more senior roles eventually based; around coaching in their specific areas of the pitch.

KTF has the line up I would expect Nigel to put out. I think he'll play it safe with mainly players that he knows can perform, rather than playing the wildcards such as Beckford instead of Howard.

DM: You think that Bamba's suspended, so you've put him in your predicted 11? Er…

Good to see Big Nige back. It's clearly a time for former heroes to return to the club so I'll go with:

Banks
Whitworth
Rofe
Walsh
Elliott
Izzet
Glover
Lennon
Stringfellow
Lineker
Worthington

Savage, Heskey?

Gunnalaurgsson? Why is he not in it ey?

Ok you lot, how about a post-1960 all-time best team?
Banks, Izzet, Lennon, Lineker, Heskey and then what?
Gibson produced his best football with Stringfellow so it is both or nothing. Where could you play McLintock? And who were our best defenders? Any thoughts anybody? I am stumped except for Banks. But Shilton was not a bad keeper!! But I think Banks had the edge.

Dungeon master

Im not saying Berner will play more as the game he played towards the end of last season it was clear to see his legs had gone. But i still think he has a role to play as a player coach and i know he was interested in becoming a player coach when Didi Hamann left but Sven choose not to a appoint one.

Maybe Nigel will

I think it's safe to say King and Wellens will be in the starting line up.

As will Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky and Mills.

I'd like to think Peltier will be too.

That makes 4 places for grabs.

I'd suggest Gallagher will play as well. And if fit, Dyer.

So assuming everyone is fully fit, with the only absentees being Bamba (suspended) and Vassell (long term injury) I think:

Kasper
Peltier
Mills
Tunchev
Konchesky
Gallagher
King
Wellens
Dyer
Nugent
Howard.

I'd like to see beckford in for Howard though.

Why oy why Gallagher - technically superb, but lightweight. I'd play Danns instead, being an old Palace player. Also Pearson wanted him at Hull, but he couldn't compete with what Rangers and us were offering.

Pearson would have to bonkers to pick Berner - whom I respect a good deal - ahead of Konchesky, who for me has been at the centre of much of what we have done well this season, and not much to blame for the less good bits.
