New Steven gerrard?? you must be joking...

"The Next Steven Gerrard", It is something I have heard spouted a lot since Gerrard entered his thirties, the latest to be labeled with such a title is Jordan Henderson, I feel for the lad as it's something that just can't be lived up to. The bad news for those people saying such a Ludicrous thing is that Steven is one of a kind, when god made Stevie G he broke the mold.

Steven Gerrard fall's in to that category of player that just can't be replicated. Looking back over the years proceeding Gerrard, you can't find a player with that same driving style, why would you think another one is just around the corner?. It's like looking for another Franz Beckenbauer , Deigo Maradonna or Kenny Dalglish.. these players are simply a once off. We may get another once off through our youth ranks over time, but they will inevitably as stevie is now, end up with the words "The New" and "The Next" proceeding their names, In future news paper articles and internet blogs around the world as they hit that magic number 30.

one of the hardest things for us Liverpool fans when it comes to loosing our inspirational captain to that inevitable thing called age, is that he is one of our own, a scouser born and bred, a world class player who is admired by not just Liverpool fans but by football fans the world over. on top of that the guys heart bleeds Liverpool red, and we fear in our heat of hearts that we may never see a local lad of such magnitude again in our life time.

Of course instead of looking for the next Steven Gerrard, people should enjoy him while he is still on a football pitch. If he comes back from injury as well as he says he currently feels, I feel an athlete like stevie, combined with continual advances in medical science could be around for another 4 or 5 years, playing at the highest level and bringing Liverpool Football Club on to the highest levels of the game.

The one thing we all want more then anything over Stevie's remaining years, is that elusive premier League title. A Player of Gerrards talent and purely basing it on talent, deserves to lift that trophy more then anyone. Saying that his career at Liverpool will be remembered as much for dragging us from the brink of catastrophe, over some of the most troubling times in the clubs history, as it will for the additional length he may have helped add to the clubs honor list. For stevie in many ways this has been a hinderence but for the club he has been a blessing and worth more then any tin pot trophy.
Now that the Liverpool ship has sailed into calmer waters, lets hope Stevie collects a few more tin pot's with the help of "The New" Jordan Henderson.

I for one will be forever grateful, to possibly the greatest ever captain of Liverpool Football Club, there really is only one Steven Gerrard . YNWA

Err, so when you disagree wth somebody they are a WUM. When I disagree with you and add my comment to the DEBATE, which you said you liked on another forum, I am picking little things out from your article?

I guess there is no point posting on your articles then.

You're right and everybody else is wrong. It is something I noticed on 606 also, from you. I don't see it changing.

If disagreeing with you makes me a WUM, then sign me up for my WUM stripes.

"there's only one reds " the article had a lot in it , it never said he was the best captain ever but people chose to focus in one sentence which merely suggested he is "possibly" on of the best captains, which it's completely unfair.

I find the one who posts "champ19ns!" all the time and gradually through the article the number gets higher - "champ21ons" quite funny.
