Is this the best Spurs team since the 60s ?

i still havent quite worked out what the prefered line ups were in the other 2 contending teams (in spite of the guidance given), however i am getting the impression that on a head to head basis, neither would beat the current team. as last night showed this team is also playing superbly with a team and with a work ethic which was unheard of in the 80s.

In the 86/87 season we had a five man midfield of Hodge, Hoddle, Waddle, Ossie and P.Allen with 49 goal Clive Allen up front. Oh and little Nico on the bench.

I went to Villa for the first away match Clive hit all 3 ...

He was the dogs that season wasnt he. I reckon we would have won the league the next season if Pleaty could have stayed at home at night.

It's the best team I've ever seen, but as a 19 year old it's not really got much to beat has it

the early 80s team were best so far i have seen and going for 4 trophys that yr, this team can be better though but hav eto win things to do that

we would of won the title that yr if we had been knocked out of the cups early. top after 27 games

I remember at the time the red tops actually published articles on whether Spurs could do the quadruple. And the "experts" of the day saying if Spurs beat the mighty Liverpool in the League Cup final, that could provide the self-belief and impetus to do it.

3-4 mins away too (Archibald near the end !!! - though to be fair none of the futile four would have got that chance on goal after 100 attempts) . .

I dont think its fair to lump defoe with the others. he had an off season, probably due to injury and to knowing that all the other strikers couldnt score a goal between them. he has scored some stunning goals this season again, including yesterday's. for me he is one of the best finishers in the league.
