The morning after the day before

The latest installment of the perennial RDBD tome.
A bit lightweight as I did not see the full 90 mins, but onwards anyway ...

The summary seems to be :

1. Malaise
2. Squad, Arry !!!
3. HA HA HA !!!

1. Cannot legislate for VDV and Modric, but in the absence of Hudd and Krancjar too, the dearth of MF creativity has been writ in black and white. And the signs have been there, especially in the Europa games.

2. Sandro apparently had a mare of a game, no doubt compounded by lack of competitive PL play. This is why you have to use subs better etc. And in the context of #1, Niko and Hudd will need similar treatment + s to ensure they know they ARE PART of the bigger scheme, and are not in team Pav/Gio.

3. Even in spite of the above, riding our luck, 3-1 away, and yet more damage in Fergie time. And the Spurs go marching on !!!

Looking like Chelsky will be the first serious examination post Manc misery time. Good, cos tis already pressure-cooking into being a "6 pointer" for them.

RDBD

The Defoe effect is in full force!

It would be fair to say he was pretty annonymous, especially in the first half. But he linked up well with Ade, and they're still developing a partnership - he took one ball that Ade could've tucked away. Also, there wasn't a great deal provided for him for the reasons we've already mentioned.

My theory is that the extra fitness work he did in the summer is paying dividends, and he's seen the level of the team rise all around him - he had to improve this season.

And yes - Ade is a massive improvement but he does struggle with the Crouch effect sometimes - getting the ball from between his feet and hitting it. I guess it is a long way down

Re ball on the ground.
Do we need a striker who feels the RRP effect ??
Pep bringing Messi with him ... ??

The RRP effect? "Heading the ball hurts"

I guess Messi could be of use.. would be a great super-sub

The RRP effect brings the player much closer to the ground than 2m Peter.

Okay i'm talking to myself now, but that makes me think - if we played a traditional 4-4-2 more often with wingers providing crosses rather than neat passes it would help our strikers.

Ade's great at holding up the ball and finding players but his technique isn't always good enough to beat players and finish. Getting on the end of crosses however..

Indeed it does RDBD

guess the way i wld look at it,is that...

whilst we are wasteful on ocassion in front of goal....

thats a damned sight beta than watching the long be about 2ft away from the ball on his heels, with a daft look on his face and his head in his hands....
