watched the extended highlights last night.....

sandro can consider himself a lucky boy not to get the early bath treatment....think ref got distracted by the imaginary card waver.....and forgot who commited the initial foul...

lots of chances went begging for both teams.....

dunno we clda had to many complaints if scoreline had been the other way around....

but comparing the games we threw away last season..i would say, that by hook or by crook,we finding ways to win, helped in the main by...

finding goals easier to come by and not EVERY shot the oppo have going in.....

it's a gr8 trot we on,a combination of winning ugly and like the villa game turning on the style.....

VERY GOOD TIMES.......

Morning RDBD

Having watched the 90 minutes I wouldn't say Sandro had a mare as such but he was clearly lacking match fitness and he wants to do what Parker's doing. Yes this left us lacking creativity in the middle, but we know he can do it - he's a box-to-box midfielder.

Bale and Lennon didn't create much either to be honest, I think the team's used to having VDV in the middle. ("The VDV Effect")

Junction, I would have to disagree that we would have no reason to complain if we lost. We had 23 shots to their 9 over 90 minutes and 60% possession. Yes they missed a few chances and there was some last ditch defending, but Ade missed/underhit some great chances - the penalty for example!

I wish Dawn was here because I really agree with what she was trying to say now - we need to be more clinical in front of goal. Had we lost yesterday Ade would be getting the blame.

maybe so bale's,but its not just about how many, but the quality if the chances...and just b4(on the highlights) at least, just b4 JD scores, cox has a blinding chance that he fired atraight at hell boy, when he ought really have done alot better...

Yes mate, Brunt had a great chance too but he spooned it over. My point being Ade also had several great chances, especially the one he fired straight at Foster from 6 yards. Bale's shot that sailed inches wide would go in 9 times out of 10.

As Lawro said on MOTD yesterday - it's a great time to be a forward at Spurs with the amount of chances we're making in every game. Defoe running from halfway to score shows how much they want it now, even if they're missing a few. Happy days indeed!

Bales :

The RDBD "Ade effect" seems to be happening now.
Defoe is raising his game wrt conversion rate.
The match thread suggests he was a member of Anonymous for a fair bit of the game, but when his moment came, it took it.

And TBH Ade is getting the kind of service the "futile four" got last season. The difference on this front is that while he is squandering chances, his conversion rate is FAR BETTER than dem lot.

lads. we missed SO many chances yesterday it was ridiculous. defoe, ade twice, and bale. all more or less sitters for players of their class.

west brom didnt have many clear cut chances but a better side would have punished us.

we even missed the pen ffs

Conversion rate is most important because there will be games where chances are few and far between, and MUST BE TAKEN.

RDBD

The Defoe effect is in full force!

It would be fair to say he was pretty annonymous, especially in the first half. But he linked up well with Ade, and they're still developing a partnership - he took one ball that Ade could've tucked away. Also, there wasn't a great deal provided for him for the reasons we've already mentioned.

My theory is that the extra fitness work he did in the summer is paying dividends, and he's seen the level of the team rise all around him - he had to improve this season.

And yes - Ade is a massive improvement but he does struggle with the Crouch effect sometimes - getting the ball from between his feet and hitting it. I guess it is a long way down

Re ball on the ground.
Do we need a striker who feels the RRP effect ??
Pep bringing Messi with him ... ??

The RRP effect? "Heading the ball hurts"

I guess Messi could be of use.. would be a great super-sub

The RRP effect brings the player much closer to the ground than 2m Peter.

Okay i'm talking to myself now, but that makes me think - if we played a traditional 4-4-2 more often with wingers providing crosses rather than neat passes it would help our strikers.

Ade's great at holding up the ball and finding players but his technique isn't always good enough to beat players and finish. Getting on the end of crosses however..

Indeed it does RDBD

guess the way i wld look at it,is that...

whilst we are wasteful on ocassion in front of goal....

thats a damned sight beta than watching the long be about 2ft away from the ball on his heels, with a daft look on his face and his head in his hands....
