History

I was thinking this morning, on the bus on the way to work (I know, a rare occurrence that my brain works before 9am on a morning)

Over the years, we’ve had abuse and banter from other teams about harping on about past glories and our history. Apparently, we shouldn’t go on about these things and should look to the future and yes, I can see that point but… The passing of Gary Speed shows why we are proud of our history and will keep on talking about it.

We have had some great, great players at our club over the years and if we didn’t look to the past and what we achieved, we wouldn’t have the wonderful memories that these players bring us.

Seeing the pictures of the tributes at Elland Road and how the fans have stuck together has really touched me. Saturday will be really hard as will tonight for the travelling contingent going to Nottingham. Do us proud and do Speedy proud.

So I say stuff you all who complain about “Dirty Leeds always talking about the past", I’m PROUD of our history, I’m PROUD of my club and PROUD to be LEEDS.

We may have our arguments between ourselves but, when the going gets really tough, we are a family. The LUFC Family. So a little sing song for you all.
Here we go with Leeds United,
We're gonna give the boys a hand,
Stand up and sing for Leeds United,
They are the greatest in the land

na na na

Everyday, we're all gonna say,
We love you Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!
Everywhere, we're gonna be there,
We love you Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!

Marching On Together!
We're gonna see you win
na na na na na na
We are so proud,
We shout it out loud
We love you Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!

We've been through it all together,
And we've had our ups and downs (UPS AND DOWNS!)
We're gonna stay with you forever,
At least until the world stops going round

na na na

Everyday, we're all gonna say
We love you Leeds!Leeds!Leeds!
Everywhere, we're gonna be there,
We love you Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!

Marching On Together!
We're gonna see you win
na na na na na na
We are so proud,
We shout it out loud
We love you Leeds! Leeds! Leeds!
We are so proud,
We shout it out loud,
We love you LEEDS! LEEDS! LEEDS!

Doc, as someone else has written elsewhere, to honor a great Leeds United man, many will just forget about our current issues and go to the game anyway.

If I was closer, I would go too and you know how anti-the current ownership I am.

All the best!

Millwall will be very Respectful on Saturday

I know a Millwall fan down here, he was extremely complimentary about Gary Speed and expressed his shock and sadness at the news.

He reckons there will not be many travel to Leeds due to the restriction on travel, apparently the Millwall fans can only collect their tickets from a service area on the motorway (this excludes them from travelling by train). He states this was a police decision?

He concluded that he feels those that do travel will be respectful.

Eric, you are behind the times, they have not come in numbers to Leeds for many years.
Even the play off match they failed to sell 1000 tickets.

Doc,

Speed's agent went on Look North at the request of Speed's family to thank fans. He also conveyed a message of condolence from Batty to Speed's family and mentioned Leeds fans.

Can't remember the words he used.

Tried finding it on iplayer, but doesn't look like it's available.

I am only saying what a Millwall fan said.

Very difficult to say and perhaps I wrote my comment incorrectly. As things stand right now, I probably would not be going but my point was meant to be that if I was not going now, then I would make an exception for Saturday as a mark of respect for Gary Speed.
