You could interpret Evra's comments as him saying that playing for United in the CC, FA Cup is not something he wants to do. In fact, you could interpret his comments as him saying that he does not really care about United, unless they are in the CL.

If United did not qualify for the CL next year, it seems that Evra would then not want to play for them.

You could interpret the words as saying he is disappointed at not being in the champs leage and also respecting people who play for Utd.

He's also come out and said with Rio that he wants to win the competition.

True, I suppose it is all about interpretation then.

You can see why people will be upset by his comments though, if they have interpreted it as him saying CL football is more important than playing at a particular club.

I understand, however I won't turn on a player who has given us years of service because of interpretations (perceived or otherwise)

A lot of players have ambition and the champions league is the pinnacle of European Football and I can't fault anyone for wanting to play in the competition.

That's why Liverpool was unable to attract great talent apart from Suarez because they couldn't offer champions league football and won't be able to for ages

Not so much what Evra has said but that he had the nerve to actually say it. For a player who hasnt defended well since mid last season I think he should be concentrating on getting his own game together and refrain from making sweeping statements about the team performance....

That didn't stop Roy Keane when he was the captain though.

Evra is more or less our captain for the rest of the season and the way I see it, those are fighting words and hopefully it annoys his team mates into action.

He's not had the best of seasons but I believe that is a result of him playing too many games

If I was one of his team mates I would be annoyed more for the point I have just made in my last post.
