Oriol Romeu - Bargin of the Season

In the summer we signed this player for a mere £4.35 million. The majority of us didn't know who he was but we soon realized that he would have a big part to player this season, as he was given the number 6 shirt; he was the backup for the injured Michael Essien.

As the season went on we wondered whether he would get many starts this season in the league as he already played well in the Carling Cup. He also played well against Genk so we knew a start in the league was coming. And no doubt it was against Wolves where he started his first Premier League game. It was an important win but many of us were delighted with the performance of Romeu. This start was the beginning of many starts in the Chelsea line-up and he has been playing exceptionally.

He is very strong in the tackle, well positioned and can move the ball quickly. He very much suits our new style of play. He plays like a Makalele or Essien in their prime. Those two players were the best in their position at their time and I reckon that in a few years Romeu could be just as good.

I know many of us were worred about the buy back clause in his contract but this is what AVB said:

'The buy-back option states that Barcelona can only buy back if Chelsea are willing to sell,' clarified Villas-Boas.

Therefore I don't think he will be a surplus requirement and so we have him for keeps.

A player that cost £4.35 that is for the short term future of a club is a bargin.

A player that cost £4.35 that is for the long term future of a club is even more than a bargin. Oriol Romeu has a massive future at Chelsea

I have never rated Carroll, even when he was scoring for Newcastle, but Demba Ba looks like the real deal and he was very good against us last weekend.

Grow your own youth team players rather than steal them off better academies

Even if Mikel is played in an advanced role/position, I am afraid that he might still fail to make a significant impact.
Like most people keep saying...Chelsea ruined his attacking play under Jose.

Nice spot of hypocrisy Manyoo.

Demba Ba = 18 goals in 26 PL games playing for West Ham and Newcastle.

I think that stands up well even against what RVP is doing at Arsenal.

I think you are probably right, but I would love him to surprise us.

Man U never nick players from other academies. The players do it of their own volition

Indeed.

I'd add Ronaldo to that list as well Biggish.

Biggest steal has to be Fabregas, however.

But...I don't see the comparisons to Essien. He's just a different player from him. More like Busquets or Bender
