Wonder if Bates has learnt from the reaction to the lack of ambition shown last January (when we were riding high and needed to address a few weaknesses to push on for automatic) and then again in the summer?
Or will we have more "unreasonable" players who won't come to Leeds because of their laughably inflated ideas of their own value, and players leaving who the fans may have thought were key players (like Howson, Snoddy etc etc) but actually seem miraculously to have become "not that good at all" and surplus to requirements and again to have laughably inflated ideas of their own value?
I await the transfer window with bated breath.
(pun intended).
January will be interesting

Best fans
I agree with everything you say, but Bates talks out of his harris. With the players that have left with no inward investment, even matching last years final league place will be an achievement. We are imo currently a mid table Championship side and for the size of our club thats a load of blocks!

"Contrary to the OPs title
January will be far from interesting. This boards track record at recruitment is a non-event, so why should this time round be any different?"

IT ALMOST SOUNDS FROM THIS YOU DON'T TRUST MR BATES. Dear me, oh ye of little faith.
If I had saved Leeds United I would be bitterly disappointed with an attitude like that.
If any players like Becchio, Howson, Snoddy, Clayton, Ross leave us it will be because they were never good enough for us and wanted ridiculously high wages that they were not worth, and just because some other club, maybe in a higher league, is prepared to pay them more in no way makes our management's position dumb.
If we don't sign anyone, it will be after lining up some real quality, and then due to them having bad advice from their agents, and over-inflated ideas of what they are worth. Just because some other Championship club is prepared to pay them more in no way makes our management's position dumb on this - absolutely not. Remember we spend far too much already on players, thats why we have one of the lowest salary to income ratios in the league. Do the mathy, as our ex-colonial cousins say.
A bit more trust and belief would not go amiss here, chaps. Where's the Onion when you need him (oh no, I filtered him, sorry............)

No I would not trust Bates as far as I could throw him with a piano strapped to his back. This mistrust is not pre-conceived but is based purely on his spouting lies, half truths and drivel, the whole time he has been at the club. Your attitude is fine so long as your aspirations are no higher than mid-table in the Championship, but if that is the case lets have some commensurate ST and general admission prices please!

Eddie, if you want Premiership football you have top pay Premiership prices, you need to get more realistic, my friend

also, Eddie - do you not agree we have done rather well? I expected mid table and look at where we are - in the play off places,
I am well satisfied with the Bates regime - saved the club, put us on a sound financial footing, without some dodgy foreign owner having to get involved, and avoided all the mistakes many make of trying to buy success.
Whatever you may say about Bates, you can't say he has ever tried to buy succes for us, can you?

Also whatever Bates and mates put in to 'save us' as you put it, has been taken back out several times over. IMO, early ST non-renewals together with gradually falling gates may give Bates an indication that 'the game is up' in terms of an incredibly loyal fanbase having choked on enough of his guff!
