Sturridge

Is he really good enough for Chelsea Fc? Well in my opinion, no. It may seem verry un fair considering how well he has done this season, however this in and out wing position has really high lighted some of his weaknesses. He has poor decision making, and can be considered selfish. There have been times when I have became really fustrated with the player, with his final pass, his slow passing and even being wasteful with opportunities.

He also might be to blame for Torres's poor form this season, as he can not feed him the passes which he needs. Now, I'm not trying to defend Torres, as there is no Chelsea fan in existance who is more anti-Torres than me. However its hard for any striker to play along side a selfish winger.

How about Sturridge as a striker? hmmm, I still feel he isn't good enough for Chelsea. We are a club with big ambitions who hope to be challenging for all the major trophies. I'm glad to have seen the massive success Chelsea have had over the last 8 years, however if we want to continue being a big club in England in Europe we need some world class players. Many of the new faces introduced into the squad have been excellant, and they look to have bright futures. Luiz, Mata, Ramires, Lukaku (I know he hasn't played much), Romeu, McEachran and Courtios; they are all players who I beileve will be the future of the club. All of these players have their faults however what sets them apart from Sturridge is their role. Sturridge is playing the RW role, a role which the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Nasri ect all play a postition where it demands the player to be, well simply brilliant. Same goes for the LW position, you need a player who can both take their chances and provide moments of magic. Sturridge hasn't been able to do it.

Although the guy is young, I still do not feel we are going to get a great alot out of him. I mean the guy is only a year younger than mata, and mata in my opinion is way ahead in his progress as a player. Its true, players peak at different times, however Sturridge still has the footballing brain of a 19 year old, and with time he is going to loose pace, which is his main asset tbh.

So in conclusion I suggest we use Sturridge for now, however if we want to truely make this team great again, we should sign a real prodigy in the summer. For example someone such as Eden Hazzard.

I hope I'm wrong and he turns out world class, but I really do feel this club needs to look great again, because there is a reason why we are currently 4th instead 1st or 2nd, we don't have enough world class players!

Have people got nothing better to do than criticise our best player this season ?

Apparently not.

Agree SF. I can take people constructively criticising Sturridge because he does have faults but he's still a good player and will get better and I reckon his 'selfishness' is overhyped. This article is ridiculous and strange as this user usually makes good articles. Sturridge bar Mata and Terry I would say is our best player and with the other young players you mentioned will be a major part of our future

Haha thanks for quoting me. I'm honoured. The title of the article is "IS DANIEL STURRIDGE THE CAUSE OF CHELSEA'S WOES", regardless of what the article says the title already carries a negative connotation.

Daniel Sturridge has been converted from a striker to a winger. He is 22. He is our top scorer. He has 7 assists and has had the most shots at goal. It's not so much of his decision making as it is him just being greedy. And you know what, if he wasn't that greedy we would have hardly scored at all this season!

He has scored more goals than our other strikers put together. And made more assists. Looks like he's doing pretty well to me. And all at 22.

Lampard has been shocking. Torres has been shocking. Kalou and Malouda have been shocking. Bosingwa is just dire. And here we are entertaining a carp article trying to undermine one of our key players of this season.

Give the lad a break.
