Game Ruined After 12 Minutes

I've heard this so many times, "He ruined the game.", "He ruined the game after 12 minutes", "He ruined it!".

Well yes he did, but HE was VINCENT KOMPANY, he's the one that ruined the game with the dangerous tackle that got himself sent off!!!

Because we're three games away from winning it, wrapping a piece of silverware up nice and early in the season to take the pressure off and give us some momentum in the title race.

FA Cup we'd still have another five(?) games to play if we'd have won yesterday.

That shouldn't matter, the FA Cup is far superior in terms of quality to the famous mickey mouse cup and the prize money is way more, though that doesnt really bother City does it

We play Liverpool in the second leg of the CC semi on Wednesday 25th, and we've a week before we play Everton. Which we wouldn't have if we were in the FA Cup still.

Funny, that. The CC bothered you the season before last, when you had us in the semi final. And we'd not won anything in 34 years at that point in time. You were all, "We won the league and the league cup!", so as a "mickey mouse" cup, it certainly mattered to you then.

So if we do the same this season, will that somehow make this season's campaign less successful, considering we've not won the League Cup since 1976 or the league itself since 1968?

No of course not, but prioritizing a Carling Cup over the FA Cup...... come on.
Its a greater achievement to win the FA Cup.

Chelsea won the league the season before last, so yes a bit of silverware even if it is the Carling Cup is nice but you ever wondered why managers play their second or third teams in the CC games - because its not as important.

Im not sure what fans you were talking to about the 'we won the league and league cup' but it was probably just banter towards local fans

Kompany is a red card waiting to happen every game. Good defender but always got a rash challenge in him. Gets away with as much as John Terry.

It wasn't the worse tackle I've seen but it was a red card. I've seen players walk for less and not appeal.

Mancini is just looking for someone else to blame. In reality, at 3-1, had we got the penalty for the foul on Velancia, it would have been game over. Irrelevant of the penalty Jones could have given away as that was afterwards.

If you go in with 2 feet, off the ground, you run the risk of a red card. He didn't make much contact but we all know it could have been nasty if he did. I think Foy was more surprised that Nani didn't dive or complain! That's what took him so long to give it!

Granted, but there again I don't agree with those who think we should take the CC over the FA Cup. I'd have the CC instead of nothing at all, but we are where we are.

The trouble with a text based medium for communication is that it's very difficult to convey meaning. My reaction to losing in the third round of the FA Cup is largely borne out of being a City fan and we're used to getting bumped out in the third round. It's everyone else who has the expectations; those of us who've suported City for more than three seasons are used to the false dawns and our levels of expectation are relatively low, to the confusion of everyone else, it would appear. My feeling is, we won the FA Cup last year, our first major honours in 35 years, but I've no desire to get greedy or arrogant over it, I'm just happy I finally got to go to Wembley with my team!

It's nice to hear someone being humble and reminding us that much that football has to offer is not about the hype in the media and big-money.

You do shine a different light on things reminding people that despite events of recent years the plight of a City fan has been a tough one. The trouble is that in recent years the World has heard many characters spouting "City are coming, we can buy anyone, we will dominate, others are looking over their shoulders in fear....." and so on. This is probably not the attitude of your average long-term City fan, they are probably more thankful than cocky/gloating.

The banter and hype does add to the occasion when we play each other but it's good to be reminded that we should be thankful for the successes we witness, I'm certainly thankful that I've been able to enjoy so much.

So good luck in the Carling Cup, I don't want City to win it but if they do, enjoy it!!!

Thanks Lambsy

I'm getting a lot of enjoyment out of being a City fan at the moment. The high profile signings, the huge improvement in the quality of the football being played, the fact that other teams, pundits and fans alike now consider us as contenders, having a trophy that is actually worth something... these are all good things and even the most cynical City fan can't fail to be swept along on the tide of hype and expectation and it does lead some of us to getting a bit giddy with it all sometimes. I just hope it doesn't lead to arrogance, as for me that would be the death knell for the City attitude.

Don't like arrogance myself either Leopold, I've seen it many times in United fans and it's not nice. We are lucky and I believe we should keep that in mind!
