Alastair Cook: The x factor.

If Pakistan is to pose serious threats against the Worlds best cricket team, then they need to keep their best batsman quiet. He looks the most assured and most well-tempered batsman around and has been cutting loose for past couple of years now.He scored century in South Africa and England won. He then saved the match for australia in the opening match of ashes when they trailed by more than 200 runs and England took a lot of confidence from that. Then on, he continues to pile on runs and help the bowlers and captain win the match one after another. What he has done also is help out the middle order. But whenever Cook departs early,England look shaky.
So, I would rate Alastair cook as the Wall between Pakistan and victory here.
No other batsman in England team and infact very few in the world right now has that touch of assuredness.
So Pakistan Keep the Cook undercooked and possibly attain the glory.

Chopping, Im not sure if its technique or just a matter of confidence, i think far too often people just switch the two terms according to how many runs the player is scoring.........

From what i can remember, His problem was that he had abit of difficulty in timing the little sequence of movements – forwards and backwards – which cme immediately before the ball was delivered...... just looked abit shifty at the creasing not really knowing what his stance was....... whatever it was, he seems alot more assured now.... maybe it wasnt such a technical issue and just a mental thing???

But still, Cook seems poor down the ground, does he not?
Havent seen him hit the ball past the bowler or between the midoff and midon...
Do you think we might even see that in near future?as we all know Cook is really hardworking. Can he improve on that part of his game?

Lets be honest since playing Pak in 2010 he has batted against an ok Aussie bowling lineup and two very poor bowling lineups in Sri Lanka and India so we don't really know if he still has those techinical deficiencies. I can't see Gul troubling him too much but Junaid just might if selected.

I do agree with Greatteams that England's long and strong tail is a cause for concern for Pakistan. Bressie is a good batsman and Broad looks to be on form. Swann can do his bit and Jimmy has to be the best no 11 in cricket. There is even a case due to this on those flat tracks to play the extra spinner in Monty.

Afridi, Wahab as a batsman got found out after his early success so I don't hold much for him as an batsman. We still have Rehman who can bat, Ajy too underatted but Gul needs to up his batting game.
