In most lethal striker-midfielder partnerships, either a certain midfielder(attacking) supplies a striker consistently with the striker bagging a load of goals and the midfielder a load of assists or they feed each other when they can ending up most times with the striker ending the season with about 20 goals and 10 assists for the midfielder and the midfielder about 12 goals and 15 assists for the striker.
In the not too distant past, Drogba and Lamps had such an understanding and though Didier assisted Lampard a great deal, Drogba still got more assists from Lamps. Same with the Gerrard-Torres partnership at Pool.
In the Torres-Ramires one which seems to be developing at Chelsea though, it seems to be a bit one sided and tipped to the wrong end of the scale with Torres supplying most of the assists and getting virtually nothing in return from Ramires.
To make this point clearer, i'll give a few notable examples off the top of my head:
Ramires miss at Old Trafford from a Torres square.
Ramires goal at Genk from a Torres chip pass.
Ramires two goals yesterday against Pompey.
I must also say that it was a Ramires pass that lead to Torres's MISS in that game but apart from that, i'm struggling to think of more.
This isn't some long rant on why Torres isn't scoring, the question I have for y'all is:
Should this arrangement be encouraged to continue(by AVB of course) since Torres's passing is quite good and ram's finishing is improving?
Or Should Ramires start supplying his fair share for Torres(again as demanded by AVB)?
Sorry if this article sounds like one of Mr Capello's. Definitely not my intention.

Its interesting Torres' season stats breaks down to
22 appearances, 4 goals, 7 assists
BUT
when you consider that those appearances are 14 starts and 8 subs, he hasn't done too poorly

hes also missed like 5 sitters so if you add those if he scored would have a good record

True. But the anti-chelsea pundits won't hear any of that.

Can't say a thing, I didn't see the game but I'm not sure its quite right to blame ramires for not passing when he scored.

stig - "Yes its not Torres Fc, but if you want to get the best out of him, build the team around him like liverpool did buying all spanish players playing him up by himself.
Why did we pay 50mil :0 for him to just assist goals ?"
I kinda feel chelsea have began to head in that direction. AVB bought in mata and romeu, two spaniards, he plays torres up front alone getting plenty of support from the wing forwards either side. They're certainly trying to become more continental in a passing style of play (a defensive high line allows for greater possession play), as opposed to the strong powerhouses of old,
