For any 'older fans' or bolton fans for that matter, this game is still my favourite game I ever went too, just found highlights on you tube....just watch David Lee ripping shreds off em, enjoy.

Jeez ..I hope my memory tonight is being dulled by the Bushmills I'm on, and that it's not down to age

No worries, he's hard to associate with Southampton anyway, they signed him and went off him pretty quickly and got shut, I'd be surprised if he played more than 20 games for them. It was also a bit 'beneath' our notice, as he was at a Prem club and we were in Division Two.
What an individual performance from little man that night at Anfield though.

I was at the game at Liverpool but with all the Liverpool supporters. I was with my brother in law and we couldn't help celebrating the goals. No problems from the Liverpool fans and as we were leaving the ground they shook our hands and said we deserved to win and good luck. Them were the days.

I was in Upper Centenery stand and remember all the L'pool fans giving us a standing ovation after the match.
The Cups really do it for you when you are the underdog or the minnow. Nowadays it's lost it's appeal as we are expected to win most ties.

Thanks for posting that.
Great memories- went on the coach from Burnden with my wife, left our todler son (he's now 23 and an avid Wanderer!) with in-laws.
I still remember Souness going ape about the state of the pitch at Burnden for the original tie, which finished 2-2.
"Wait till we play at Anfield on a decent pitch"
Ha ha ha!!

I was at the 1st one at Burnden. Early kick off on a Sunday on a white over frozen pitch.
Ronnie Rosental was our nemesis that day.

Bambi legs Winstanley messed up their 2nd goal and I thought we had lost our chance. The replay was the greatest night for many a year, watched it last night and felt so proud, excited and with the biggest smile. That night got back in Bolton for a little drink and got home and watched it with my dad who had videoed it.What a night!

Corrected
Just been reminded it was Winny for the first goal and Ziggys suicidal back pass that was for the 2nd goal.
