The fickle fan, the giggly fan, the moody fan and the electric fan.
Its all dependent on age and perception.
If you were there to see Kenny sort out a strong Aston Villa challenge to win the title in 1990 you will probably have the acceptance and patience required today.
For those who travelled to Istanbul we are still laughing and can handle this transition.
And then there are those who have grown up with United and the billionaires and for them there is anger.
We need a time machine. Suarez is that machine!
Its all about AGE!

Yup old enough to remember souness cocking it up but still winning an FA cup!
It's strange that in Evans days we were a shambles defensively but offensively we were fantastic.
Contrast it with now, defensively very tight but cannot open up teams.
We've not had a good defensive unit with a flair of attack for ages.

I think the last time we had a reasonably solid defensive unit that scored any amount of goals was Markus Babbel, Vegard Heggem, Sami Hyypia, Stephane Henchoz, and Jamie Carragher.
Although if memory serves me correctly, Carragher was a defensive midfielder in those days.

Heggem had some storming goals down the right, a converted winger.. He's had to retire now I think.

I meant though, a solid defence and a great attacking unit.
Imagine this defensive line of ours with fowler mcmanaman and collymore.

Haha Heggem!!

Ah, Collymore - love him or hate him, I still have vivid memories of him scoring the injury time winning goal in the 4-3 win over Newcastle. Epic game full of excitement.

Collymore had it all besides the right attitude. Roy Evans was not the right manager for him.
Stan had pace power and heading ability and a cannon off either foot.
A task master he had respect for would have got the best out of him.

I'm 42 and remember the last team Kenny built with Barnes, Beardsley and Aldo. It was a fantastic team and arguably the most attractive team I have seen play at Anfield.
He deserves longer than 1 year before fans start getting on his back. I agree with the OP. Some younger fans are inpatient in the extreme and expect miracles to happen. It takes time to build a decent side unless you win the lottery like City and Chelsea.

Roy Evans was not the right manager for him
-----------
Unfortunately Roy Evans was the wrong manager at that time full stop. The youngsters we had coming through at the time were as good as Man Utds. Fowler, Redknapp, McManaman, Rob Jones.... What they needed was a manager like Fergie to get the best out of them.
We played nice football under Evans but we could have been so much better.
