I'm still drunk, and fully behind Kenny.

Depends how long?

It took a year to win the title after Arsenal beat us on the last game of the season in 1989.

Totally agree with Anfield Rap. Support Kenny100 %.

I'm 100 percent behind Kenny. I think your right on the money re. Age and patience, I'm probably a lot older than some of the members on here.

I'm 20 therefore there's no sentiment involved with Kenny and I really question his decisions.

Each to their own though.

Im 30 and behind Kenny, but we have looked like a lop sided team for many years now! Players constantly played in unatural positions with limited options up front and relying on 1 or 2 players to win games!

It seems like we have a bit of a different squad and the same things are happening!

We are still overun with CM's, No RW and light up front!

However I think we are 2 signings away from challenging , but far too many CM's that need games to maintain a high level or need games to reach their potential (Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey and we still have Aquilani on loan).

Anyway Kenny knows what he's doing and he has my support, but he does need to address our issues!

I've seen my fair share of the good times already. I'm 31 and to be honest, I've seen my team win more than any supporter of any team has a right to expect.

Every club has peaks, troughs and transition periods. It will come again. You have to keep the faith.

I'm behind Kenny all the way.

I'm 55 and been a Liverpool supporter since 1964.
I can remember the great games Kenny played for us, and his last stint as manager.
As for the current situation: Part of me says stick with him and give him chance, another part says that he is out of his depth tactically.

I also am old enough to remember the Souness shambles. Great player, but as a manager he tore an all conquering team apart to buy his own players in and do it his way. Within one season we were in a decline that we are still trying to put right.

I wouldn't say my age has made an impact on my view. I am fully backing Kenny, and im 18. Looking at Tottenham under Redknapp and Man City under Mancini, it has taken them 4 years to get to where they are.

There are so many players at the club, who can (will) improve. The likes of Kelly, Flanagan, Wilson, Coates, Robinson, Shelvey, Suso, Henderson, Lucas, Sterling, Carroll and Morgan can improve us with time and patience.

The difference between the Souness era and now is that Souness chose to make wholesale changes to put his mark on a team, but Dalglish has had to make changes to the team.

When Souness came in we still had an awesome team, but he decided to get rid of McMahon, Houghton, Beardsley. Whelan, Nicol,Grobbelaar/ Too many players too soon. Imagine if he'd kept some of them whilst bringing in teh youth such as Fowler, Redknapp and McManaman.

Souness has since admitted that he made a mistake and that was what took us backwards.

Yup old enough to remember souness cocking it up but still winning an FA cup!

It's strange that in Evans days we were a shambles defensively but offensively we were fantastic.

Contrast it with now, defensively very tight but cannot open up teams.

We've not had a good defensive unit with a flair of attack for ages.

I think the last time we had a reasonably solid defensive unit that scored any amount of goals was Markus Babbel, Vegard Heggem, Sami Hyypia, Stephane Henchoz, and Jamie Carragher.

Although if memory serves me correctly, Carragher was a defensive midfielder in those days.

Heggem had some storming goals down the right, a converted winger.. He's had to retire now I think.

I meant though, a solid defence and a great attacking unit.

Imagine this defensive line of ours with fowler mcmanaman and collymore.

Haha Heggem!!

Ah, Collymore - love him or hate him, I still have vivid memories of him scoring the injury time winning goal in the 4-3 win over Newcastle. Epic game full of excitement.

posted on 23/1/12

Collymore had it all besides the right attitude. Roy Evans was not the right manager for him.

Stan had pace power and heading ability and a cannon off either foot.
A task master he had respect for would have got the best out of him.

I'm 42 and remember the last team Kenny built with Barnes, Beardsley and Aldo. It was a fantastic team and arguably the most attractive team I have seen play at Anfield.

He deserves longer than 1 year before fans start getting on his back. I agree with the OP. Some younger fans are inpatient in the extreme and expect miracles to happen. It takes time to build a decent side unless you win the lottery like City and Chelsea.

-----------

Unfortunately Roy Evans was the wrong manager at that time full stop. The youngsters we had coming through at the time were as good as Man Utds. Fowler, Redknapp, McManaman, Rob Jones.... What they needed was a manager like Fergie to get the best out of them.

We played nice football under Evans but we could have been so much better.
