Wow Arsene Wenger the priceless hypocrite

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/7456398/Wenger-calls-for-over-21s-ban

"What I would like to see in the Premier League is that you are not allowed to loan players over the age of 21."

He added: "At the moment it is an opportunity for some clubs to reinforce other teams, without losing ownership of the player.

"For example, if a big club sends a big player to another club in the Premier League on loan, they only have benefits.

"That player cannot face his own club, yet he could win games against their rivals.

Impossible

"Therefore, I think it would be better if players over 21 didn't go on loan in the top league."

In an attempt to avoid contradicting himself, Wenger has also defended his decision to sign Benayoun.

He said: "It's true that I haven't done that often. But we were on the last day of the transfer window. We knew that Jack Wilshere would need surgery.

"So we were short in midfield at that point and to find two players so late was nearly impossible for us without using a loan.

"At that time, the most important thing was just to sign him."

Does this mean Leeds should complain about being knocked out of the FA cup, after all it was his over 21 year old loanee Thierry Henry who scored the goal.

He also goes on to defend his situation of signing Benayoun because Jack Wilshere had an injury and he had no other choice but to make a loan signing.

I'm sorry but this man just smells of hypocrisy, how can he say such stupid things when he has 2 players over the age of 21 loaned to his club.

Knock the loan system on the head immediately.

What happened to neither a lender or a borrower be.

And then how are your youngsters supposed to get games? And gain experience?

They got there experience in a well supported reserve team league,it also enabled players coming back from injury to obtain match fitness.

I do think the loan system needs an overhaul - not sure on scrapping it altogether.

I'd like wenger's idea, or as an alternative ban loans of players to other prem teams except those just promoted that season or, limit the number of games loanees can play or something.

Under the current rules, there is nothing stopping a club stockpiling players, then loaning them out to clubs where they can have a direct influence on helping their parent club win the league - and that is just wrong, however you look at it.

Wenger can be a real muppet sometimes

And the loan system is fine the way it is. Clubs should just put more thoughts into who they loan out and to whom.

this isn't serious is it?

The reserve league is diabolically poor. Not only is it not competitive enough, but the players don't get the experience of playing with a crowd.

Rather than that, I would rather see something like B teams.
