Transfers

Everybody knows Rangers have a lot of problems. But frankly at the moment we have issues that stretch beyond the tax case.

Why do we insist on constantly (and publicly) making a fool of ourselves in the tranfers market?

I had no issue with us saying Goodwillie wasnt worth £2m because I dont think he is. But all those supposed bids at the end were just embarassing, whther thay were true or not.

And now we have the Jelavic saga.

Hes not worth £10m. Hes a good player. On his day hes a level above most else at Rangers and in Scotland.

£7m is a great price for Jelavic. I sincerely hope they have some mystery club lined up with more money than sense. Because if we dont then not one english team will pay £8, 9 or 10m.

We will be left with an unhappy demotivated player and we will have made our club look even more of a joke in the process.

We need to move Jelavic on and get on with our lives. We might not see any of the fee but hopefully his wages can be used to bring reinforcements in.

The amateur way in which we are handling these situations is just beyond a joke.

That's what I thought! Most of us have been a bit down on these boards. What has TCD been reading?

eh??? not according to the berz on here..according to them life is great, its the media and the celtic fans, and nothing is true
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems Celtic fans want to think we are daft enough to believe all is well.

I doubt even the most hardened of Rangers fans would have the cheek to say we dont have problems.

We couldnt afford to offer a contract to a a freebie Estonain trialst that we admitted we wanted to sign FFS.

What more do you need to know?

Exactly - some common sense. We are all guessing at what might be going on and we can't affect any of it so just need to wait and see. Do you think a possible scenario could be.....we sell Jela late in the window, then immediately fire out contract offers to three or four of the trialists incl. Jaager, or others, in the hope that they are still keen and available?

Sorry TCD, I got that one wrong!!

That's exactly what i think is happening! I think a lot depends on if we sell jela. Its a gamble saying we want the player then not offering a deal whats to stop other teams coming in for the player jaager for example.

Streethawk - That's what gives me some hope- the fact that more trialists continue to arrive. This surely would not be happening if Whyte had said to Ally point-blank "We have absolutely no money so it's a waste of time taking players on trial at the moment as we cannot offer anyone a contract"

Incidentally it must have peed with rain in Milngavie today as I noticed the big Nigerian boy was 6'8'' when he arrived this morning, but has shrunk to 6'6'' already!! (stv sport)

Coach

"I doubt even the most hardened of Rangers fans would have the cheek to say we dont have problems.

We have problems that is for sure.

Going on a bit of a mad rant saying the club have made numerous errors, handled things very badly during this window and saying the club is acting in an amatuer way is a diffrent kettle of fish altogether, and thats the problem I have with what you are saying.

As far as I can see, its the fact that Rangers problems are being reported in the media that you have a problem with and you are embarrassed by it....not only that, but you are blaming the club for these things becoming known.

If we have problems, we have problems....do you honestly think the club is able to keep things like players coming in on trial a secret???

and if your next question is, why bring these players in on trial if we cant offer them a contract, my response to that is if we dont show an interest in these guys, we have no chance of signing them.

We need money in if we want to offer contracts to these guys, that seems certain...but the only bids we have had so far are for Edu and Jelavic, with the bid for Jelavic only coming in yesterday. Seems clear to me that Ally doesnt want to lose either for less than what the club values them at, and I'm not going to berate the clubb for doing that, not a chance!

Considering the only bid for Jelavic that we have had just came in yesterday, and we are doing what every other club does in situations like this...negotiates....I'll say it again, this all sounds like impatience to me and embarrassment at the situation itself which in many respects we cant do much about

If we sell Jelavic tomorrow, we will be able to sign up every trialist we want......Muslimovic got a better offer down south, Jaager is still on the radar, others are still at the club......might all still happen.

I'm not a fan of the waiting game myself, but it has been a very quiet window, keep that in mind also

I'll judge the clubs January transfer business when the window shuts.....and I'm certainly not embarrased by the clubs dealings when all they have done is take players on trial and knocked back bids they dont think are good enough.
