Ken Bates on Leeds United in 1984

"I shall not rest until Leeds United are kicked out of the football league
their fans are the sc um of the earth absolute animals and a disgrace
I will do everything in my powers to make sure that one day this happens"

"BATES OUT"

The current average is quite mis-leading.

Put these factors into the equation.
We have 1 out of 4 of the following "Big Dates"
First Game
Boxing Day
New Years Eve / New Years Day
Last Game

Also, there are no real Yorkshire derby's this season. Nobody really cares about Doncaster. We had a good 30k + attendance v Sheffield United last season.

Also, you'll find a trend that the 2nd season in a division the attendance more often than not decreases. This is because there is a loss of momentum. When a League One side is promoted they often have lots of momentum, it's why if they fail to make it count and push on and get promoted, the next season they don't do so well. Doncaster didn't do too bad when they first came up and then the next seasons after they gradually fell lower and lower down the table.
Forest show that trend but I think that was more other factors. Leicester have dropped from where they were. Peterbrough did during their first promotion in the last 3 years.

When we went down to League One we all pulled together, the fans and the club and we wanted to get out of there. It was us vs the world, and that attracted a lot.

IMO last seasons average should have been around 29000
Prices definately a turn off for some

I suspect Southampton, West Ham and Leicester (Last Game) should get decent attendances.

RSL, prices have always been a gripe with fans. It ain't as easy as people think to price up. Basically your stating I must raise £x and guessing and the number of fans, because whatever you set the price at there is no guarantee.

Indeed, just feel the club is failing in terms of fans through the gates, hardly surprising with the Bates PR charm

I just thought of something.

The club plan for an average attendance of 21, 000.

So if they were to decrease ticket prices wouldn't that have to be increased. Is it too much of a risk, could it go wrong if the fan then don't come back for the saving of a few quid?

Anti, the club budget is for average of about 24k, no cup run and the minimum tv/central pot money.

LufcGermany. You are right.Bates has no love for our football club.Sadly,it,s people like him that control most things in life, football clubs are the fans passion, but just playthings to people like him. There once was a time when most clubs were run by people that cared for the club, but them days are gone. It,s like a lot have already said, even if Bates sells, who would buy with the best interest of Leeds United at heart.Unless there are some super rich Leeds fans out there,it,s going to be a long road ahead.I would love to be wrong though.

Cas

Even so more to my point.

If he decreased ticket prices then he'd have to increase that to 25/26. Would we get that?

Anti, your right but don't tell RSL. At present we have 12k ST's so we're getting 12k turn up on the day supporters. If you say they pay £28 average (which equals about £23.30 after VAT to the club) then if you take £3 off (or £2.50 to club) then you'd need an extra 1400 fans each match. This isn't taking into account you'd have to reduce ST prices also so would need an extra ST holders. So budget would now been based on 26-27k. Would it happen unless guarantee winning team??
