It's Friday, it's the news!

Hello and welcome to the Friday News, with me, your Friday news reader Claretgunnergirl.

Let's kick off today's news with the astounding sighting of Lionel Messi in Burnley! Reports emerged late on Wednesday evening that a number of fans had spotted the footballing superstar going into the club shop. Staff at the shop were however unwilling to confirm the rumours, or that Messi had purchased a brand new shirt with his own name printed on the back. One fan who believes he saw Messi had this to say: "It was him! It was Messi! He's going to sign for us! Up the Clarets!" Also unconfirmed are the rumours that Messi has been sighted in club shops up and down the land during this quiet close season.

To some more concrete news now, and the launch of the (soon to be) infamous 'Lemon Chrome' shirt, the new Burnley away kit. The racy combination of zingy yellow shirt and claret shorts and socks has raised a few eyebrows in Burnley land. The shirt features a claret neckline and two eye-catching claret stripes on the right shoulder while the claret shorts and socks both have 'Lemon Chrome' trim. The new kit can be seen on the Burnley website right now, fetchingly modelled by JayRod who's also showing off a pair of disturbingly hairy legs. The Friday News wants to know what you fans think of the new shirt ... will you be buying it? Or avoiding it like the plague on account of it looking like something only big girls and Watford fans would wear? Let us know!

Burnley boss Eddie Howe is making his presence felt at Turf Moor, although unfortunately not in the transfer market. This week he's sanctioned a new indoor training facility at Gawthorpe and put his weight behind the plans to convert the empty Turf Moor leisure facility into an elite gymnasium. Expect the players to look a lot fitter next season with all these facilities at their disposal. Don't expect them to have new teammates though ... there's still not even a whiff of a Burnley-based rumour in the transfer market. News on the future of Chris McCann is thin on the ground, and the only move to/from Turf Moor currently seems to be the departure of Jack Cork to warmer climes on the South Coast. With the team due to return to training in under a week, and the first pre-season fixture at Altrincham on July 9th, the Burnley fans must be dispairing over the lack of solid transfer news.

In other news, it emerged this week that the Friday News' very own CGG had hit the headlines. The following article appeared on a well-known and supposedly informative website. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenjonsin_%28footballer%29 Although CGG's people acted quickly to defend her actions and stop the blatant misuse of her name, it's uncertain as to whether her good reputation remains in tact. Only time will tell whether CGG will suffer the second fall from grace in her short news reading career.

Breaking news from the Burnley board as we're about to go off air!! Telford has firmly denied his involvement in the incident which saw Mrs Telford cruelly ploughed down by a speeding car. However, a witness to the incident claims that the person behind the wheel 'was wearing a hat like Telford's.' Could it be that he's trying to cover his tracks? More on this next week!!

And that's all from the Friday news for today ... I hope you've all enjoyed your weekly update, and that maybe some of you will try to actually do something newsworthy during the next seven days.

Mornin', CGG, a valiant effort to create news from virtually nothing - don't despair, the tabloids have been doing it for years. I think your obvious talent should see you through your latest crisis. CGG trashed and removed from our board twice ? It can't happen.
Never !
I've seen the "lemon tango" (trademark @evensteadiereddie) shirt and I, weirdly, like it more than the new home shirt which is er, "retro" at it's worst.
Has Corky finally decided he's off ?
Surely McCann won't scarper after all the club have done for him ?
Just who are EH's targets ?
All old questions but still no hints.
How has the shutting down of the "Arsenal Voice" or whatever it was called, affected you, O Mighty One ?
Still, I suppose it will give you more time to scrape the empty Turf Moor barrel. Come on Eddie, give us something !
At the moment, I can't even be bothered hunting down and skewering the poor deluded fools who tried to WUM us last year.
Alvin ? Alvin ???

Hi I'm Alvin, Clare's on/off boyfriend. What seems to be the problem?

He says 'on/off boyfriend', I say 'majorly obsessive and slightly sinister stalker.' I guess it's all a matter of perception. And mental stability.

Thanks Eddie (I'm going to call you Eddie, although I still think of you as Cuneo). This time of the season's really bad for any sort of news isn't it? I hope there's some transfer activity at both of our clubs soon ... actuel solid deals instead of rumour would be nice.

I'm afraid the closing of Arsenal Voice, if that was its name, made absolutely no impression on me.

A slightly sinister stalker called Alvin, all I got was a psycho loser, from Bolton but he's been made to behave himself so I musn't grumble....
I think the forum was called, surprisingly enough, "Your Arsenal".... I'll let you fill in the punchline, CGG.

I shall refrain from your kind offer Eddie! I think we've all got active enough imaginations to complete that one ...

Fair enough but "Your Arsenal" ? Somebody had a sense of humour setting that site up.
What are you up to today, CGG, apart from avoiding (?) the advances of Amourous Alvin ?
Given the lack of anything coming out of Turf Moor that we can get our teeth into, Messi excepted, I'm off biking round the Derbyshire Peak District today so that should be OK if the weather holds up and the pubs are open as planned.
Maybe we're not in such a bad position regarding the lack of transfer news from t'Turf. I'd hate to be a fan of these wannabe clubs who are desperate to be linked to a name, any name, usually a third rate African or East European. They know that if the player really was any good, the big clubs would have had them like a shot.
Maybe its better for them and us not to look daft by indulging in baseless and ultimately disappointing speculation. In Eddie we trust.
Anyway, have a good day, y'all, and I'll catch you and any other BFC or Arsenal types on here later.

WES, that's absolutely brilliant! Love the choice of music. Well done!! It deserves its own article though.
