Liverpool 4 Newcastle 3

Just been watching the 4-3 game on ESPN classic, at the end of the game we had Collymore, Fowler (two goals a piece) Rush, Barnes, Macmanaman and Redknapp on the pitch - that's some creativity.

Mcmanaman for me was one of the most underrated players around at that time and how we could do with him in the side now, had a great time at Real Madrid too and all the "Galacticos" there spoke very highly of him, great game and great memories

Yeah he did siempre, a corker as well. My last comment should have read banned word.

In fact, if memory serves it was the winner. Sure they won by 3-1?

He will never go down as a Liverpool great IMO, and fans of other clubs never fully rated him, he was seen as an enigma for England and people who don't know football dismiss what he did at Real Madrid.

For fans of other clubs I get the impression he is seen as a scouse scally, mates with Robbie Fowler and a "spice boy" - happy to pick up his money and smoke fat cigars lit with burning £50 notes. Truth is on his day he was every bit as good as Ryan Giggs just not as consistent.

I agree wholeheartedly with you when you say he was our last great winger, the goal v Celtic springs immediately to mind

Well I hear what ya saying but other teams opinions are not my concern. However, I'd defo say he was a great and severely let down by the club. Agree to disagree.

However, I.do agree about the giggs comment. In their day they were the top two for me. The way that both of them could take people on was amazing. You just don't get wingers like that anymore.

Well ones that can take people on and cross a ball.

The above are not my thoughts just how he is perceived by football fans that I have discussed him with, for me he was a great player

Watching this game also makes me sad that Collymore is such a and wasted his considerable talent

Agreed on colly, shame really, another talent wasted. He must regret how it ended in a car park.
