OK, so I know he is upset at not getting a move; he's French-ish so that could explain le pride, his nose is no doubt out of le joint, he probably hates Le Manager and wishes he were somewhere else, he wasn't snapped up by Le 'Arry, he feels snubbed, he is not in the appropriate frame of mind to play le game. In short, as they say in t'Rankin, he has one on him.
But will someone tell me another industry where the best performing employee is allowed to down tools, be a no-show and still get paid even basic wages, let alone continues to make more in a week than many of his customers make in a year? Even in the most militant shop steward couldn't win this one! He should be suspended without pay until he changes le attitude.
I believe that there is a small percentage of mankind born without any shame, apparently most end up as Premier Footballers.
This is one messed-up business no le doubt.
Pathetic; and more fool us for still playing (and paying for) their selfish, short sighted game.
RIP Footy
Duggy
PS I'll forgive him for now if he donates his entire wages to a good (British) charity!

It’s another example of the bubble that footballers live in. No idea what goes on in the real world. ‘Not right mentally’, do me a favour! They kick a piece of leather up and down a field. They’re not surgeons!

How right you are Wild Rover. In the great scheme of job importance they right down on the bottom rung of the ladder (not even on the ladder if their 'head' is not right)
