Maynard will play for England at the next World Cup

Or did you mean Mr Lama our ex-goalkeeper?

Did Bristol City really turn down a £6m Leicester bid earlier in the season? If so, how come West Ham got him for only £2.5m?

Contract running out

Yeah i think they were desperate or they would lose him for nothing in the summer

I know his contract was running out etc. But how could his value plummet from £6m to just £2.5m in a matter of months? Does seem odd. Leicester and Bristol City must be fuming!

Maynard had no wish to join Leicester.
He is desperate for a Premiership career, and that ruled out Leicester, and Wigan who will be a Championship side next season.
I guess he saw WH as the best bet for sustained Prem action.
Trouble is, he did rather hang our club out to dry with this 'will he wont he' contract business.
So everyone wins except BCFC as per usual.
One day we will get a fair deal though. After all, Spain did eventually win the World Cup.
Maynard is an explosive player, who can look fairly ordinary for 89 minutes, then produce a dazzling piece of genius and win you the game. Just ask QPR fans re Boxing Day 2010.

His head has been turned in the summer. And as a result has seemed indifferent on the football pitch playing for city. He has scored 8 goals this season. But weather he is good enough to make the step up to the prem..... Time will tell.
I wish him and west ham luck for the season ahead.
And for your first season back in the prem.

You are right, look at Beckford, I hope (if West Ham do go up) Maynard will make it in the prem, but it's impossible to call. Looking at the last time we were in the championship, will Maynard be the next Zamora or the next Harewood? Only time will tell.

When you go up you will buy better players and Maynard will warm your bench.
Zamora or Harewood NO.
More for like Mike Yarwood.
And this is from a Bristol City fan

As much as I'm glad West Ham got Maynard on the cheap, I think it's totally and utterly wrong how players can allow their contracts to run out and then leave for free.
The fans and the club get absolutely nothing, whilst the player gets a few grand extra in wages. Players who do that should be ashamed of themselves.
