Nigel Doughty Death

Very sad to just hear the news of Nigels death - On behalf of all Derby fans can I offer my condolences to his family at this awful time.

It's things like this that put football into perspective.

Let's hope tomorrows game is a fitting tribute to the bloke.

Just landed in manchester(snow), very sad to hear this news, hope that people can put life in perspective and put aside differences, its only football.

Rest in peace Mr Doughty.

If the game does go ahead, i'd like to see not a minutes silence, but an a minutes applause. I live in west staffs and there's about 4 inches of snow here.
Strange isn't it. Rivals, but when bad news happens, I mean really bad news such as this, we're almost like mates.
All the best boys.

Genuinely shocked to hear this on the way back from brum in the car
whatever has been said by forest and derby fans in the past it was plain to see underneath he was really just football fan like the rest of us wanting the best for his club.

A few years ago I worked for a company in the east midlands that ran into difficult times. Mr Doughty brought in investment days before administrators came in. I'm proud to say the company (although I no longer work there) is now very much on safe and sound foundations. Nigel Doughty did huge amounts for local business and was not just a football man. Those who met him at the time talked of a man happy to talk football and eat with all the staff in the canteen, they talked of a genuine and humble man who really cared for anything he got himself involved in.

This is truely a sad day when a man dies way before his time. Like others have said times like this transend anything football can rise too and we can be as one in the sadness of something so tragic.

Our thoughts are clearly with Mr Doughty's family and close friends at this truely awful time.

"Mind you, can't say we showed much sorry when Maxwell fell off his boat "

See? We were united then too.

RIP Nigel and deepest sympathy and thoughts to his family. This does put football in perspective and despite professional mistakes at Forest I don`t think anyone can deny his support and desire for the team to suceed.

RIP
