Whenever Forest fans talk, they discuss how their club have underachieved for 20 years, how the late Nigel Doughty was a fool (despite gifting you millions of £) and how bad all your managers are.
Is it possible that these people are actually doing a decent job at Forest, and a club of your size is in its rightful place in the Championship?
Unfortunately you seem to look back on the Brian Clough history and believe that makes you a big club today. So you have unrealistic expectations.
In this interview at the start of the season, the interviewer seems awe struck by Forest, believing they are a big Premiership club by right and she goes on and on about promotion.

For all McClarens faults, he knew back then Forest weren't capable of promotion.
Do you have unrealistic expectations?

Owd WAGBO was hanging around on Forest 606 constantly.
The lad is a Forest fan simple as that.
He even noshed me at Trowell services for my 2001 Forest home shirt.

Deepspace, maybe we do have high expectations but no more than many other teams. Teams like Forest, Derby, Leicester, Norwich, the Sheffield clubs, West Brom, Birmingham, Wolves and quite a few others are teams of a similar size and all of these teams probably think they should be in the top flight. Even discounting the Clough era Forest have won as many or more trophies than many of these clubs.
The original 'Big 5' were Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton, then more recently with the huge influx of money Chelsea and Man City. Add to these Villa and possibly Newcastle and that would make up the teams that you would say are definate Premiership clubs then there are probably 20 or so clubs who of a similar size that none of them would look out of place in the Premiership.
If you want Forest fans to forget the Clough era then you would need to tell Man U fans to forget Busby, Liverpool to forget Paisley, Leeds to forget Revie and Everton to forget Kendall.

We don't have overly high expectations. If you look at clubs of around our size over the last 10/12 years nearly all have done better than us.
