Firstly I know Trappatoni is a good coach, I also know he's got a decent system but I can't help wanting certain players to get injuries so we can play what I believe is our best and strongest team.

Plus it lets the players in question know they have to improve to get back in?
England and Spain don't pick players because they were once greast. Look at Torres who'll struggle to get a game or even Bent who scored goals to secure Englands qualification.

He's a well known Ireland fan and he's also pretty smart so throwing out the "i know he won't call up n.i. born players" seems more like wishful thinking rather than inside analysis.

Yeah Pastey, Martin O'Neill is not going to pick better players because he captained Northern Ireland!!!
In the fragile world you live in that may happen but in reality Martin O'Neill is not a loyalist and while he may have many a good memory playing for Northern Ireland he's not stupid.
