Magic thats a good side there. All Premiership quality players
I would have McGeady in instead of Duff. Duff 'deserves' it due to his service but I think that Aiden gives us more. Reading that team list and subs brought a smile to my face all the same. Some class youngsters coming through
Duff offers more to be honest, admittedly McGeady is faster and offers a wee be more going forward but Duff crosses better and knows the system.
I do take your point and both can be slotted in for each other or if McClean gets nervous play them both.
I do like that side all the same.
If Walters plays he'll be my unsung hero. He reminds me of Alridge in his role for Ireland. Works his socks off every shift and plays out of position for his team. A little bigger than Aldo and maybe not as much as a natural striker but both from Liverpool (most Irish city in the world outside the Island) plied their trade in the lower leagues until they were noticed and made the grade.
No point in putting a team without Whelan in it. No matter how bad Whelan plays he will always be in the lineup untill trap leaves. Simple as that.
That's why I'm hoping for injuries or tweaks??
Also maybe one of his Irish Stoke team mates can give him a 50/50 ?
Also think of this team going forward in the World Cup campaign
Given/Westwood
Wilson Duffy Dunne Ward
Coleman McCarthy Gibson McClean
Walters Long
Only Given and Dunne are in their 30's the rest young 20's with loads of other talent waiting their chance?
The future is bright for Ireland and imagine Martin O'Neill at the helm? He doesn't have the same style as Trap and would blood loads of the younger lads.
I can definitely see Martin O'Neill being Roi manager in a few years.
Jheez, a lot of people slate Andrews non-stop and hype up McCarthy to a world-class level, but the last time I checked it, his club Wigan, are rooted to the bottom of the premier league and have been resident relegation dog fighters for the last 3 years.
Is McCarthy really as good as we all want to believe?
Also there is no chance, Martin O'Neill will be managing us for at least another 10 years...
Assuming he goes onto make a success of Sunderland (it looks pretty promising at the moment) some top 6 club will surely snap him up!
As long as there are decent prem team interested in him, there is no way he will go for the Ireland job despite all his "passion", nevermind the political shtstorm that he would bring upon himself by deciding to manage ROI, when he represented NI as a player.
Owen Coyle is a more realistic candidate...
MON would never manage N.I/ROI too much hassle..............
How could N.I legend MON deal with the likes of Darron Gibson?? To much hassle for the great one to worry about...............
Watch this space! Its a well known fact that Martin O'Neill is a ROI supporter. I would say when he is finished with cl. ub football he would love to manage us
Queen, we've already found out that Martin O'Neill doesn't want to manage Northern Ireland but this driven man wants to manage internationally as we found out when he threw his hat into the ring for the most thankless job in the international circuit, England.
So I'm pretty sure if Ireland move forward at the pace they are moving the job will entice M O'Neill to return as the prodigal son.
summer dude dont hold your breath lol...........
mon will be looking to build his legacy at man u when old red nose finally goes lol...............
if that is a failure then he may consider the roi or owc.................
i would bet money that mon would opt not to call up n.i born players lol.............
This is the same Martin O'Neill who personaly contacted Trapatonni to update him on James Mc Cleans progress at Sunderland! I say he couldnt give a monkeys about the NIreland side to be honest!
CutandPastey you have inside info on Martin O'Neill? Do you know him?
He's a well known Ireland fan and he's also pretty smart so throwing out the "i know he won't call up n.i. born players" seems more like wishful thinking rather than inside analysis.
Summer magic he would not want to damage his n.I legacy or status
Simples
His NIreland legacy! Ha ha!
Is that the same legacy he sullied telling Neil Lennon not to play for anymore?
You don't want it to happen and that seems to have clouded your judgement!!!!

....................................................
Captained OWC to 2 world cups including THAT win over mighty Spain lol..........................
Marty would never pick a N.I born player for the ROI and you know it sad bloke lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Yes he would if it made the team stronger !!! What sort of a dream world are you living in
Yeah Pastey, Martin O'Neill is not going to pick better players because he captained Northern Ireland!!!
In the fragile world you live in that may happen but in reality Martin O'Neill is not a loyalist and while he may have many a good memory playing for Northern Ireland he's not stupid.
Summer he wouldn't want the controvesy in N.I................
I reckon your a bit like robbiesadbloke in that you don't spend much time in N.I...............
Apologies if i'm wrong
