Good news for Irish football.

Anyway... getting back to the rankings, this is fantastic news especially for ROI, as if we stay in the top 16 FIFA ranked European teams , we will be second seeds for the the next WC qualifying draw...
Thanks to great work from Stan and Kerr, we got a hard qualifying group after the Euros, with Sweden and Germany and it will be tough for us to get the Brazil 2014.
Still, if Trappatoni keeps us climbing up the FIFA and UEFA rankings then at the very least we can look forward to easier qualifying draws in the future

Morning folks. Have been reading the old 606 site and ja606 for quite a while now and never bothered registering. For some reason I took a mad notion the other day to start posting.
Anyway, re:- the rankings. I'm an NI supporter and always will be. It doesn't bother me too much that we have ended up 86th and the ROI are now 20th. In fact i'm delighted for the ROI. I will be supporting them at the upcoming Euros. At the end of the day its great to see some of the 'home' nations being represented at a major tournament. Maybe in a few years NI will be there too. I have high hopes for Michael O'Neill. Was never fussed on Nigel and a few games in the qualifying didn't go our way but thats life..
Anyway sorry if I went off topic a few times but I'm new to all this!!!

Welcome to the board ! I believe Michael O'Neill will get NIrelands players playing with pride and passion again. This will i've no doubt result in ye lads putting in some good performances in your WC qualifying group!

Thanks for having me.... I honestly can't see us qualifying from our world cup group, but i would be more than happy to see some good performances, a few wins and the all important pride and belief brought back to the team. Maybe thats just blind optimism on my part, but I can always hope!!!!

You think you have it bad??? We have the mighty Azerbaijan and Luxembourg in our group. Theres little or no chance of us getting much from those world beaters. After all the Faroes proved too much for us.. lol Still, you never know what can happen in the crazy world of football..
