Delighted with this news! Michael O'Neill hasn't even overseen a match yet and already has us on the rise! Watch out Gibbo, we're, erm, right behind you!
It would be great if both teams succeed. It would be nice if both teams got to the World Cup or the even tougher Euro Championships. That would highlight how good it would be if we had 1 team.
Maybe wouldn't agree with the last sentence there Summer Magic. I love my Windsor nights. But it would be great to see both sides qualify for the same international tournament. If O'Neill comes in and rallies the players, I don't think we are, given the level most of our guys are playing at, a million miles away. It oneeds belief, first and foremost, and plenty of luck though.
Could you imagine the beer gardens round Belfast if it ever actually happened?! Would be amazing craic!
That WC group of your is brutal though Merry. Even the minnow isn't a gimmee. You need the retirees to wind their necks in and those thinking about it to stay on.
I agree mate. What I look for in this campaign is for us just to show some pride and confidence and surprise a few people. If we can do that, and if Michael is given time to turn it around, then we can make steady progress. I hope people see this group for what it is and don't look for miracles.
Look at you guys. When you were getting stuffed by Cyprus, did you see things turning around so quickly? Admittedly, you have a bigger pool of talent and have proven world class manager. But with the right man in charge and the patience required, a lot can change in a relatively short space of time.
Pity you don,t live there lol..............
I did my best to keep it sensible Gibbo. This board needs a bit of sensible humour and it may actually given up a bit! Obviously, not aimed at you!
Liven, not given. Still can't use these blasted phones lol.
Gibbo you live and contribute to N.I whilst supporting the roi a country you don't live in or contribute to lol...............
That's the ardoyne bubble for you lol..............
For all Megans 'lol's' you get more humour out of a kitchen sink.
I have told you before that I contribute to the ROI numbskull. That isn't the point anyway, Ireland pick players from and have supporters all over the island so I do, in fact, live here.
You support the roi and you live in the uk lol..........
And putting the odd 50p in the tin down at the armalite and ballot box don't mean you support the roi lol...............
Ah that's the ardoyne bubble 4 you lol.............
Gibbo makes a good point. The ROI side can select players from all 32 counties on this island so he has as much right to support the side as someone from Bandon or Wexford! You seem to have big problems understanding this.
I think Megan would have trouble understanding the instructions for the TV remote control.

Its obvious he has next to zero knowledge of Football so the majority of his postings ausually have pathetic political overtones!
Ha ha he has just been put back in his box on the Scottish Premier board by fans of both Celtic and Rangers!
^^^^^^^dude you stalked me on the old 606 lol...............
Anyway Gibbo if you want to support a country you don't live in then knock yourself out lol..............
I actually have a sort spot for Brazil lol................

looks like the wee pudding Salmon aggrees with me robbiesadbloke lol................
In fairness what did you expect labelling both Rangers and Celtic fans bigots!!
Them Scots are well able to stand up for themselves!! Have you never watched Braveheart!!
Anyway... getting back to the rankings, this is fantastic news especially for ROI, as if we stay in the top 16 FIFA ranked European teams , we will be second seeds for the the next WC qualifying draw...
Thanks to great work from Stan and Kerr, we got a hard qualifying group after the Euros, with Sweden and Germany and it will be tough for us to get the Brazil 2014.
Still, if Trappatoni keeps us climbing up the FIFA and UEFA rankings then at the very least we can look forward to easier qualifying draws in the future
Morning folks. Have been reading the old 606 site and ja606 for quite a while now and never bothered registering. For some reason I took a mad notion the other day to start posting.
Anyway, re:- the rankings. I'm an NI supporter and always will be. It doesn't bother me too much that we have ended up 86th and the ROI are now 20th. In fact i'm delighted for the ROI. I will be supporting them at the upcoming Euros. At the end of the day its great to see some of the 'home' nations being represented at a major tournament. Maybe in a few years NI will be there too. I have high hopes for Michael O'Neill. Was never fussed on Nigel and a few games in the qualifying didn't go our way but thats life..
Anyway sorry if I went off topic a few times but I'm new to all this!!!
Welcome to the board ! I believe Michael O'Neill will get NIrelands players playing with pride and passion again. This will i've no doubt result in ye lads putting in some good performances in your WC qualifying group!
Thanks for having me.... I honestly can't see us qualifying from our world cup group, but i would be more than happy to see some good performances, a few wins and the all important pride and belief brought back to the team. Maybe thats just blind optimism on my part, but I can always hope!!!!
I can't see us qualifying from our World cup group either!! Germany, Sweden and our bogey side Austria!!
